The armor's base paint is complete.  It still needs a lot of weathering.

I decided to practice my weathering on the TK chest plate (future Dengar butt/back plate).

I'm also going to need to put a matte finish over the top.

Thoughts?

Did some more weathering today.  I think I figured out my technique.  I'm going for a "blotchy" look.

I also intend to add a matte finish.

Thoughts?

I also got a new shirt in the mail:

I've got to say that finish color you have there is beautiful. Well done!

Finally back to this project.

Worked on getting the logo off of the gloves.  I used the sanding bit in my dremel:

Left glove done:

The right cuff was thinner leather and I accidentally cut a couple of holes:

So I glued a scrap of leather on the inside:

Then I added the black paint weathering to the chest:

and the shoulder bells:

Took me a little bit to get my groove back on the weathering.  I think it matches what I did last summer.

It looks like it has a bit of purple sheen in some of those photos.

That’s some light reflection happening in my garage.  It’s actually just brown and black.

While rereading the updated Dengar CRL (Jan 2018 updates), I noticed two color changes that I hadn't noticed when I initially reviewed the CRL updates:

Flight Suit
For 501st approval: Light tan.

Boots
For 501st approval: Light tan moccasin style, calf length boot.

Both of those were gray in the previous version of the CRL.

I was planning on going for gray on the flight suit, but I'm not too worried about the flight suit color change since I haven't dyed mine yet anyway.
I am a little concerned about the boot change since I already made mine out of gray suede:

I'm thinking of a few options:

1. Buy new tan boot suede and remake the boots, and dye flight suit tan
    Pro: Best option for CRL,
Con: Will cost more $ on suede, boots are a pain to make

2. weather the gray boots to hide gray, and dye flight suit tan
Pro: Don't need to spend more $ on suede
Con: gray boots and tan flight suit might look bad, doesn't follow CRL (maybe I'm grandfathered in since I was in progress when CRL changed?)

3. weather the gray boots to hide gray and dye flight suit gray to better match boots
Pro: Don't need to spend more $ on suede
Con: gray boots and gray flight suit doesn't follow CRL

Because I have costume OCD I'm thinking #1 would be the best. LOL

I'm waiting for some feedback from the BHG Detachment.

Got some advice from Garbz on the BHG forums.  He recommended trying to paint the moccasins.  Good idea.

Had nice weather today, so I was able to do a paint test on the leather moccasins.

Here is the paint I'm using:

I used one of my first-attempt moccasins.  Here is the before:

And here is the after, gray still on the left, tan on the right:

The leather still feels really soft and flexible, and not crusty like I thought they would be.  I was also worried that the paint would crack and flake, but it doesn't.

I'm happy with the results and will paint the real boots soon.
