Local 501st documentary
« on: July 28, 2015, 09:14:40 PM »
Hey all,

My name is Paul. I'm a local, independent videographer and photographer. I spent a few years working at The Columbian newspaper in Vancouver.

I spoke with Harry Starr a few weeks ago about working on a mini-documentary (or series of mini-docs) on the local group over the next few months. I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and say hi.

A friend and I are hoping to put a few short videos together in the coming months and look at the people in the 501st. We'd love to talk with folks about Star Wars, building armor, going to events and of course, what you all think of the new trilogy coming out in the next few years.

I'll keep an eye on the forums and be in touch to see what is up, but please let me know if there is anything going on. Whether that be a build party, charity event or you just want to hang out for a bit and talk.

Thanks for taking a minute to read my post. I look forward getting to meet a few of you soon.

-Paul

And if you're interested in seeing what kind of work I do, this is one of the videos I produced at The Columbian on a WSP trooper: https://youtu.be/2YpekUblCdw

This is a piece my friend and I did about 4 years ago on a local Elvis impersonator: https://youtu.be/5IisvQpX4l8

Welcome Paul! We all have different stories on how we ended up doing what we do, and looking forward to sharing with you.

Hi Paul!

I'm currently working on my armor and would be more than happy to answer questions or give some insight into my experiences. I've been a Star Wars fan my entire life, I have lots to say about the new trilogy, and would love to share my story if it would add anything to what you're doing - I LOVE documentaries and think Cloud City would be a great garrison to spotlight. My last name, coincidentally, is Starr as well (although Harry and I aren't related, we found this quite amusing).

Drop me a message if you'd like to meet up for coffee or something, I'd love to hang out and talk Star Wars!

Best,

James (StarrFox)

Thanks you are too kind. I just hope to produce something that can be a lot of fun for folks. I also am a huge fan of how the 501st donates time and passion to charitable events.

I'm certainly a newbie around here (joined in July 2014), but I'd definitely be interested in chatting with you about my interest in Star Wars and the 501st.  Building my TK was the first big creative project I've tackled in my 41 years and took me a year from commitment to completion.

Hi Paul,

I'm another newbie (approved in May), but I'd be happy to help if you need more folks to talk to.  I'm just finishing my 2nd costume and about to start my 3rd and 4th.

Hi Paul,

I'd also be happy to chat all things Star Wars, 501st, and the new movies! I've been with CCG as a stormtrooper for about a year and a half now, currently working on a few more costumes, and have been a part of the admin team  for a short time now.
