iComm install
« on: September 27, 2014, 11:04:08 AM »
I dreamed up a pretty nifty way to install my voice amp and iComm unit into my armor, and my mic into my helmet. I'll take some photos when my iComm shows up next week. I'm having way too much fun on this TK armor...

Finally Finished!! My biggest issue was where to mount the iComm and the VoiceBooster that would be easily accessible. The chest piece has perfect pockets in them for the iComm and the VoiceBooster.

First thing to do is mount the booster facing outward so the speaker is not blasing into my chest. A little industrial Velcro should do the trick.

Then, I mounted it to my chestpiece, and did the same with the iComm unit.

I'm still not 100% sure what to do with the mic. For now, I mounted it inside my helmet with a little Velcro.

I'm probably going to just wear the headset under my heatgear hood, but I'll play around with it a little more. The iComm and the Booster mount worked perfectly and it doesn't add enough weight to make a difference.

Now all that's left, is to submit my application for membership. Hope to be trooping with you all soon. :)

Yep!  That is the way most people mount the Aker / Icomm unit.

I'm going to use the Aker unit only, and a Push-to-talk (PTT) cable.

I have the Aker, it came with a strap, I just hang it around my neck, and at this point use the wired mic, fits under my balaclava just fine, but I do want a PTT button.

If you get the iComm unit, it has VOX. This was one of the reasons I got it, plus it has cool break sounds. :)
