Newbie from St Helens
« on: December 04, 2011, 10:52:27 PM »
Hi all

Dave here, British ex-pat living in St Helens. Been into SW since i was a kid, and have been thinking of getting into this kind of thing since i worked with someone who made Dr Who outfits a few yrs back. No armor yet, and still trying to decide between TK, TD, and CB.

Also looking to get involed at meets and troops.

Cheers

Dave

Welcome! Whatever costume you choose to make, we have plenty of folks here with experience with them that you can pick the brains of if you have any questions. The CB is pretty rare in the 501st, but Mosi has a completed one, and I believe someone else has one that they're working on finishing. It tends to fit in with the Northwest scenery well :)

Greetings! If you are wanting to get into something sooner than later, then the CB may not be a good option right now. The only armor maker that does the full kit (plastic parts.. helmet, armor, etc) just retired the molds and won't be making any more until he makes new molds sometime next year. There is another maker, but they are slow with making their molds and don't have a complete kit yet.

We can always use another TK or TD and Daverian has done some excellent builds with both.... and he's right down the road from you!

Welcome Dave. Make yourself at home and get to know folks. We don't bite.  The public Events are in the Announcements Section of forums.  You are welcome to hang with us even if you don't have a costume.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone,

Yea, I'll be going for the CB, as Luananeko says it fits the area, and its something different.

Mosi, can you let me know who the 2 makers are please, I'm not worred about the time just yet as I'll be focusing on getting the soft parts made first whilst I save up a bit. Also wouldnt mind picking your brains a bit once i do get things under way.

Daverian and Drago Seron, nice to hear from some locals, e-mail or p-m me and we can arrange for a few drinks and a chat.

OldTonyKenobi, would like to come, but its to short notice, but I'll catch the next one.
