Need some help

So today between the heat and the rain I was unpacking some more boxes from California and I find my kids Scout uniforms that I started but didn't have time to finish. My 4 yr old son and 8 yr old daughter are the same size so I basically was making 2 identical suits until my daughter dropped the bombshell......

She now wants to be Ahsoka 

So I google the Ahsoka character and pull about 20 pictures to use as reference...found some interesting picture to say the least.  I have 2 problems besides having a kid that wants to be a jedi.

1.Trying to figure out how to make her three lekku headpiece.
2.Finding a face paint that won't wow out her skin. Because of her skin condition she will have to wear a full body suit.

Help me Obi....never mind you know the rest.

There are decent headpieces you can buy, and I dont really know much about Ahsoka so yeah... good luck

Check in over at the Rebel Legion. There are quite a few RL members who have done, or are doing the Ahsoka Tano costume.

I checked RL when they actually have a working website, guys you need to pay your internet bill on time....

I could not find a tutorial on how to make the headpiece.  I could buy a halloween style of ebay, but I would rather make it myself. Just brainstorming right now hoping either she will stick to scout or someone will email me a tutorial they found.

You just want to make a simple headpiece for her?

I would suggest making it out of white tights stuffed with cotton and then painting the stripes. I'd be happy to help you man. I made a Shaak Ti headpiece for my exwife back a million years ago (Halloween 2005). I know that Asohka's is much smaller, too. How accurate are you looking to make it?

its for an 8 yr old going on 14.  Function over form, she needs to be able to move.  Tights, good idea, already pre-formed just need to find some for 3 legs.

Just keep in mind that this was before I hit my costuming stride. But this is what it looked like:


The top part is made of a wire sculpture and paper mache, but the parts that hang down were the tights with stuffing.

I'm sure she can send you some good tips. As for face paint, can she not have like... any at all because of her condition, or just a very mild form? I use a water-based liquid paint that is incredibly light and feels like nothing when it dries. I've even had it in my eyes and I'm not blind yet.

She has severe eczema, two doctors we have seen (one here and one in California) said the worth they ever seen.  She stays home from school some days because the kids make fun of her "scales".  We just found out an hour ago a new list of allergies so many we have turned a corner.  No milk, wheat, oat, corn, to go with her dog, cat, cow, and horse allergies. 

I think a water based paint might be doable. We can do a test try this weekend. Thanks for the post. I will put up a tutorial as I go or when done, costume part looks easy just looking for a bodysuit right now to wear underneath.
