When you send in your application, the system will send an email to Dave, notifying him that you have applied. You would also need to send Dave your pics (high-resolution full size pics from head-to-toe front, back and sides. also a pic from your torso up with the helmet off for your profile pic). Once he has inspected them and determines that you are approved, he will mark you ready for duty. The Legion Membership Officer will then activate your TKID number and you will be a full-fledged member at that point.
When you do send in the application (if you haven't already), be sure to provide at least 4 or 5 numbers that you wish to have as your TKID number. Submit them in the order that you want them, too. Because if you submit your number two choice in the top box, and it is not already taken, that is the number that will be assigned. There is no way to change numbers once it has been assigned. So, be sure that the numbers you choose are the numbers that you really want because they will be assigned to you for life!
If you are not sure if the number you want is in use or not, do a simple member search on the 501st main page. You can look up 501st members by their names or TKID numbers. If you plug in a number and it comes back as as classified, it is a used number. If it comes up with a member's profile, it is obviously a number already in use. If it comes saying something to the effect of "no record found", then it is a number that hasn't been issued yet. And it means just that.
If two members submit the same number on their application, whoever was submitted first will get that number. The LMO will assign the next available number on your list. If all of your numbers are already used, he will ask the GML to have you pick a new set of numbers.
