Race for the cure

Hi if anyone was unaware my wife recently went through breast cancer surgery and will be attending the RFTC on Sunday and wanted to know if any other troops will be doing this event - I will be there supporting my wife-

Eric (Han Solo) and Rick (Chewie) and I are doing this. I am trying to work out the logistics for us for a dressing room and storage of the gear... yeah, we're dressing up for this one.

Race for the Cure is this Sunday..... Sept 21st.

I may be doing the Juvenile Diabetes walk with a friend of mine the following Sunday, but I am not so sure about that one, just yet. Of course I am doing the Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on October 3rd.... that would be the night before Allan's big Eugene Film Festival event another solid event in the name of charity.

My family and I have been walking for 7 years, we usually walk the 5k co-ed, but this year I'll be in costume so maybe do the 1k or mile walk depending on what we want to do. $30 Adult up to day before race Health Expo at Oregon Convention Center to pay & pick up t-shirt, bib, pin, or pay $35 Adult day of Race. Bill is checking into a changing room for us to use, and need to set up time/place to meet up. Looking at wearing something pink on costume, pink balloons are good, signs are encouraged. My mom passed away from Breast cancer 4 years ago, she's always been my inspiration and got me hooked on Star Wars.

Although this wasn't a full on group event, it was a very cool, very relaxed, and most enjoyable Race for the Cure event walk. We were well received as always, helping people smile for the day, and walking among the survivors, supporters, and good people always make any event or appearance we do that much more enjoyable, memorable, and a blessing.

Thanks Bill, Rick, and to anyone else there.

Hope to do this again with more characters next year.

I saw you guys there sporting the shirts and all - I was going to say hey but I was too busy the my daughter and all the happenings and by the time I had a chance  I could not find you guys - but it was my first time and had a great time - just wondering though who were the tactical black costumers that were there?

Oh, man, I didn't even see those guys... then again, I completely fogged up a good majority of the time.

I had a great time with this event. For me, this was better than a lot of the other high profile gigs we do. Dude, we were mobbed by the crowd wanting pictures with us... and when I say us, I mean mostly Rick. He just had to chump us with Chewie... again! 

This was a blast, we should seriously consider doing more of these kinds of events. They are really worth it and this is what we do, this is charity in its simplicity.

I may be walking in the Juvenile Diabetes Walk next Sunday. Not for sure though. The Leukemia walk is the following Friday night. I am already looking forward to next year's Komen Walk. It was a priviledge and an honor to walk with Eric and his family. I would be happy to do it again!

Thank you for helping out with Race for the Cure.  Charity is awesome, and the folks are touched in many ways.  I am glad for the excitment.. Very heartfelt..  Thank you again Guys.
