No reply/Quote button on many threads
« on: February 07, 2008, 07:22:18 AM »
Is anyone else experiencing the inability to post? I look for the reply or quote button, but they are not there...

What threads specifically.  Because there aren't any in the public events area.  That is a no reply area!

I noticed the same for me in this peticular thread: Cloud City Garrison Message Boards > General Discussions > Cloud City Event Announcements > Barnes and Noble Book Store..Event.... Eugene..March 2008.....

If this is locked then how is it that some folks are able to post in here? What gives, man???

This has been explained several times, both in posts and in group PM's.  The Public Events threads are read-only except for a few people.  This is due to the fact that planning and banter was going on there.  That thread area is only for public announcements of our events, as the title dictates.  Event Planning, as that title dictates, is the members area and is the place to banter and plan.  The idea is that the public is updated to our where abouts and we talk in the area that allows for a thread to be endless and chatty.

When the public tries to view our public events threads and they are laden with banter and chatter, they tend to find nothing of use and move on.

Fair enough, Martin. But I pointed this out because there was a post in this thread that I mentioned yesterday. Seeing as how that there was a post yesterday, it had me curious. Perhaps the post was made because the poster (in this case Allan) has special access to that thread....

Dang, I was hoping the moderators were cutting back on Dave's ability to post.

This is the sound of a deep, deep sigh...

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

Dear God People!  I have posted about this.  I have PMed about this.  I have reposted on this.  I have explained this.  I have concluded posts in the event section about this.  I have reminded about this.  And yet, here I am again explaining things to people.  Oddly, it is the same round of people that don't seem to pay attention, the same people that sling mud, the same people complain about how things are.  To be honest folks I am tired of trying to talk to you about everything and anything.  You have posted wrong, you have created bad threads, you have tried to jump into events and bogart someones planning without so much as a PM or a courtesy post.  I am completely amazed, flabergasted, exhausted, and flat out pissed about having to deal with this at all.

The people that are able to post or repost or edit in the Public Events Announcement area are call MODERATORS.  The Leadership team and the MODERATORS have access.  They are the pretty names in blue with the title before them called MODERATORS.

The public events area has been locked to banter and chat because the whole intention of it's use is exactly as the title dictates:  IT IS THE Cloud City Event Announcements AREA THAT IS FOR THE PUBLIC TO SEE WHERE WE ARE NEXT. It is not an area for banter, chat, canoodling, blabber, diarrhea of the mouth or any other form of language, written or spoken.  HOW MANY TIMES DOES IT HAVE TO BE SAID?  PM the people that are running the event for further details. It says that in many of the posts.

I am sorry if you are not a member, but, guess what?  You are not a member.  So PM the people that can give you an update.  It isn't that hard.  It is not our job or responsibility to do anything beyond one or two posts that can be update with confirming information about where we are and what we are doing at an event.  If you are not a member, please work on your costume, get it approved, then you have all the access you want to whatever area you are a member of (Rebel Legion or 501st).  At that time you can blither all you want about any event that happens.  Until then, the threads are locked.
