TIME: Event: 5pm-7pm/In Costume: 4:30pm-6:30pm
CAUSE: Oregon City Public Library
Annual May the 4th celebration
PARKING: Free street and lot across the street or staff parking
CHANGING AND STORAGE: we have large staff bathrooms
COSTUME REQUESTS: all are fine
BLASTER POLICY: Blaster and lightsabers are fine.
MEMBERS' CHILDREN IN COSTUME: Yes, children in costume are welcome to attend
OTHER DETAILS: Annually, we host a large May the 4th celebration for the galaxy's best characters and fandom. We offer games and prizes for attendees. Because of COVID, this year's event will be outside (our library is surrounded by a City park). Staff and 501st Units, however, will have access to the building before and during the event. Here are some of the activities we have planned.  • Welcome tent, issuing new Baby Yoda library cards • Pool noodle light saber making • Lightsaber training with bubbles • Scavenger Hunt/prize stickers • Photo booth on Library stairs • Music   

We've been grateful to have units visit during our May the 4th events before. We welcome all - The Rebellion, Empire, Republic, Mandalorians, Hutts, you name it. We have yet to figure out how to accommodate Rancors though. Thank you for your consideration, and may The Force be with you!


ANYTHING ELSE: While we won't be serving food at this event, water (bottled & a filter station) is available for units. Restrooms in public and staff areas are available - those in staff areas are private, locking, and offer enough space for costume changing.

The mayor and other city commissioners will be at the event.

Roster final. Fun troop, sounds like they want to have us back next year. Beware of younglings with foam lightsabers, they tend to attack in groups

One thing I’ll reflect about this troop is that the kids with pool noodles were a bit much. Before considering this event a second time, I think I’d request that the pool noodle kids be contained to a roped off area.

Yeah, good call. Sounds like a spotter would have been a good addition to this troop!
