Thanks for the input and the kind words. I really feel like I've found some momentum to get this across the finish line. Well, that, and the fact that I can't actually go anywhere!

First, a little distraction. What if?!?!?!

IMG_20200322_172751814 by Michael Halstead, on Flickr

Then, I added these parts for the hoses/tubes to come out of on his left leg. It's amazing how versatile ping pong balls are!

I made one for the other side, but the glue failed, so I may revisit that and come up with something else.

Then, for the first time since halfway though, I moved it out of my office!

It breaks down to two legs, lower torso, middle torso, upper torso, two arms, and a head. So, I should be able to transport it. I am hopeful that also makes it easier to paint.

I believe it's ready for paint, so I've ordered that and should be able to get started shortly. There are some hose details that go from one part to a separate part, so I'm brainstorming the use of magnets to make them removable, we'll see if he really needs them once I have more done. I have the shoulder bags to make and ordered the leather for the bandolier. Need to make the grenades for that and the ammo boxes. Other than that, there's a blaster I have that I need to get assembled and painted for one of his hands. I think I have it worked out how to mount it. Have his large rifle as well and I was thinking about a rifle sling for that so it looks like he's armed to the teeth. May look good. Oh, and some internal lighting for the head!

Anyway, lots more to do but at least I can start to see that I'm getting closer!

The painting has begun! Yesterday, I hit it all with some filler primer:

And then today, I did a black undercoat:

And, lastly for the day, I sewed the shoulder bag thing that he wears:

May redo that, depends on how it all looks when put together. If the weather holds, which it's not supposed to, I'll be able to put on the dark bronze paint tomorrow and once that's dry, I can add some additional paint details and the oil and other fun stuff. Maybe even assemble him to see how he looks painted.

I got my leather for the bandolier today so I'm going to start on that, which is really the final detail besides blasters and head illumination. Started working on the grenades. They may take some time as they have some pretty fun details I need to figure out. I can taste the end of this project!

Got the bronze on him and decided to reassemble him for the fine detail work and the oil and stuff. Figured it would look better if the oil could run from one part to another and look more natural. Hoping I'm right.

Remaining list of things to do are to add lights to the head, finishing paint work and oil, blaster for his hand, bandolier with grenades... I think that's it. Maybe decorate the base a little better. Any suggestions?

Used wood stain to give him an oily and dripping look, since I figure personal grooming isn't his best point.

Then, I picked up this 3D props E11 from the junkyard:

Magic!

IMG_20200330_143148434 by Michael Halstead, on Flickr

Never mind the small pile of spare parts...

So, I then wrecked the E11 by drilling large holes in it and making it so that I can bolt it to his hand so he can hold it.

And then, today, I added some paint to it:

And now, he is armed!

Still waiting on some parts of the lighting and bandolier. Should be some more progress before the weekend.

Last few details were the bandolier belt and the head lighting. I used some ABS plastic, leather, snaps, Easter eggs, and ball bearings for the bandolier. These are the grenades:

And the ammo boxes on the back were just ABS plastic:

And some LED lighting for inside the head:

Also, I had his original blaster, but it's too heavy for him to hold, so I added a strap so he can look like he's bringing extra firepower!

And with those added details, I am done!!!

Special thanks to everybody that cheered me on or contributed materials or ideas. I honestly never would have gone past the legs if it wasn't for some of you. Looking forward to sharing it with my garrison and having him be present in comic con booths for years to come.
