Will this work?
« on: May 01, 2018, 09:00:56 PM »
I am trying to do a Kylo. I have someone who will make me an outfit for a good chunk of change but i also found one online.

https://www.procosplay.com/star-warsthe-force-awakens-kylo-ren-cosplay-costume-mp003015

Would this be up to standard? And no I am not counting the mask. I have a higher quality mask already.

Thanks!

Hi Matt. Pretty sure the answer is no. There are other Kylo experts that can weigh in but looking at the belt alone, I'm certain it's not going to pass. Check out the Sith Lord detatchment for the full details and vetted sellers.

Hi, there!  It's great you're interested in making a Kylo Ren costume for the 501st.  I'm definitely not the most expert one here, but I don't think that the linked costume would be approvable.  I know that the sleeves need to have pleats instead of the ribbed fabric that is shown.

Here is the 501st CRL that will have more exact specifications.  http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Kylo_Ren
There is also a Facebook group, Knights of Ren, that can help with construction questions:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/KnightsOfRen/about/

This is why I asked! I wasn't holding my breath but figured it couldn't hurt to see!

There's nothing there of value beyond, MAYBE, the pants lol...but you can get (much nicer) pants for $15-30 and save yourself $80.  Not sure the belt is included but that's a felony on every level.  It does include the mask and gloves etc and those are non-starters.  Too many pleats on the sleeves and the material is likely terrible.  You can't even 'fix' any of this stuff so it's a waste of money all around.

Much more interesting to me is your comment about the 'make you a costume for a good chunk of change'.  Be sure to vet any costume maker and keep on eye on that KoR Facebook group.  Remember to ensure that whatever is made for you is tailored for you well so that you can be approved.

Looking for Droids.  R2 and BB units mostly.
