Christina's ESB Centurion Anovos build
« on: January 27, 2016, 06:37:32 PM »
I'm first and I don't even have a kit yet!! :)

So I'm going to be doing a lot of work to make my kit centurion ready and ESB approvable. :) I figured I'd talk about the conversion bits first and then add my supply list and to do list when the kit arrives.

There are some obvious things I will need to replace or buy before I start and there are a few things I already have:

Boots - TK boots (bought last May)
E-11 - THG Props (I have a kit so if anyone has built one and knows how.to put it together I would appreciate the help)
ESB Decals - Trooperbay (ordered)
ESB holster - mod the Anovos holster
ESB hand plates - ATA (received)
Belt ammo box part - ATA (received)
Canvas belt - FISD (received)
Silk/satin gloves - Amazon (ordered)
Neck seal - make my own
I'm also going to purchase the following extras
Fans - Evillboy (ordered)
Icomm /Amp (received)
Helmet pads - Amazon (received)

For building supplies I'll wait to see what the kit.comes with before I put my shopping list together. :)

Looking forward to this!

It's here!!!! I have my kit and it looks fantastic!!!!  I do have my work cut out for me though.  I have to replace the neck seal for sure. I'm not sure the neck length it's supposed to fit, but giraffe comes to mind.  It's too tall on me.  I'm going to order a custom from Darman.  I also need to remove the decals and put on new ones.  Does anyone have safe suggestions on how to do that?  Really looking forward to this build!!

Awesome.  Looking forward to watching your build.

I saw on FB today that someone removed all the decals and paint with rubbing alcohol.

I was going to try removing the frown paint with mineral spirits, but maybe I'll try the rubbing alcohol first.

Gazmosis over on FISD took apart his Anovos helmet and is hand painting his traps, etc.

Looks like he used rubbing alcohol and goof off to remove decals and such. Good luck, looking forward to seeing your ESB TK!  :D

I did see that. :)  I'm not planning to take it apart, but I'll use rubbing alcohol to clean it up.

Finished cleaning up my helmet and painted the inside.  Just need to clean of the excess that leaked through the eyes and teeth and then I can repaint the frown.  Waiting for my helmet pads and decals to arrive to finish it.  I also bought a helmet bag. :)

I have a lot of work to do for fitting.  The abs piece was comically long.  When positioned correctly at the bottom it reaches to my collar bone.  I am extremely short waisted.

I plan to seperate the cod, but I'll probably have to trim cod, top of abs and bottom of chest for a good fit.  I also may need to shim, but need to see.  I have a 38" waist which should work.  I need to bend the kidney piece and abs piece more.  I re evaluate after I have trimmed to fit as that is probably not helping me bing the pieces together.

Question for any TKs that use elastic to close your shins.  Could I see a picture of your set up?  I've been looking for a tutorial for 2 days on FISD.  I don't want to use Velcro.

Here's a shot of the top interior of my right shin armor. This is unhooked, but basically the elastic is glued to one half, with the hook on the inside of the elastic.

"Hooked" shot. My armor is actually cracked and needs some repaired here... Ooops.

Finished updating the bucket with ESB decals and I mounted t-nuts inside for screwing the lenses into and painted the frown black. That was my favorite part. :)  I have also put the new padding inside.  I just need my fans from Evillboy and I'll be done with my bucket. :)

I've started the work of fitting the main pieces to the body.  I found I have to add about 1" shims to each side and I had to cut the cod to shorten it.  I need to take about an inch off of that as well.  I cut down my kidney to match the change and will add a new return edge to
it after I do another fit with all the pieces on Friday. I need to heat and bend all of the pieces as they are too flat and don't quite wrap properly.

The first image is before I cut the cod and the second is cut, but shifted up an inch.  The tape on my leg shows where it started before cutting.

In the CRL I see that a male snap is required on the right of the ab piece.  Luke or Jason can I see a pic of yours so I can get the right position?  I'm adding snaps and gluing snap plates to the body tonight. :)

Been working steadily. :)  Finished putting all the snaps into the clamshell and was able to take a look at it today.  I have some things I want to fix and then I'll move on to the legs.

1) change right side straps to nylon.  since I have less of them that side stretches more than the left.
2) cut down the rear butt plate and heat and curve the sides a little more.  it looks like a diaper on me
3) change the screws on the ammo pack to Chicago screws and glue the buttons on top
4) cut down the sides of the cod

After I took the pictures I glued the shoulder bridge on.  I just need to add the elastic for the back.

Shouldn't take me long to make the changes and then I can move on to the legs.  I think I'm still on track to finish before the end of the month.  Hoping to be approved before ECCC. :)

The piece that's on the interior of the kidney that slides into the ab. plate, is that to make sure there's less movement? Seems like a clever idea to keep things from going wonky on you, I like it! Looking good so far, gotta love having more Stormies!

I didn't come up with the idea, but yes. :). I'm going to put some Velcro on it for more hold.

Cut my thighs down by 2 1/2" but now I need to shim the thighs by about an inch.  I'll trim the rest of the legs and work on adding shims this weekend.  Annoying, but not the end of the world.
