Introduction from southern oregon
« on: December 06, 2014, 03:13:42 PM »
Greetings from southern Oregon (Sitkum to be exact).  Arghun, Brendan , James or Dan I answer to a lot of things.  My introduction to fandom was growing up the son of a Hollywood agent.  This year was my first year going to conventions:

Norwescon
Baycon
VCon
HonorCon
OryCon

(Nothing like jumping in with both feet!).  I got involved with the Royal Manticoran Navy, where I went from a new recruit to Deputy Commander of Tenth Fleet (West Coast) in 4 months.

But what I discovered is a LOT of my friends, including in TRMN, were 501st Members.  What was this about, and how do I get involved?  That led me here, and I started looking at how I could affordably get into this part of Fandom.

So what I am interested in initially:
Imperial Navy Trooper
Imperial Gunner
Reserve Tie Fighter

Down the road Snow Trooper
Tie Pilot
Biker Scout

who knows what else?  :)

Arghun

Howdy! Reserve pilot is a great place to start, you can go tie pilot, bridge crew, navy trooper, gunner from there.

PS: Gunners are the coolest!  *wink*

Welcome to the forums! I admit I had to google Sitkum to find out where it was! It would be great to get new members in the Southern part of the state, the more we can get, the more events we can get going!

If you haven't already, you'll want to register on detachment forums for the costumes you're interested in. For officers, that's the Imperial Officer Corps:

http://www.imperialofficer.com/

Gunners are the Imperial Gunner Corps:

http://www.imperialgunners.com/

And Reserve TIE Pilots are part of the Jolly Roger Squadron:

http://www.jrs501st.com/

You can find the 501st Costume Reference Library documents for everything (including links to all detachments) here:

http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CRL

And of course, ask questions here! We've got lots of people what will be happy to answer questions and try to help you get going (and keep going).

I am super excited about having more members in Southern Oregon!  If you need ANY assistance, let us know.  The links Stevo502 will help a ton as most of the 501st building of costumes (info, resources, ect.) happens in the detachment forums. I would also suggest trying to come out and spot for a event for Cloud City/Kashyyyk Base.  It's always more encouraging to see the people behind the internet posts. There are a few events that happen in Southern Oregon, with more to come hopefully!!!
