Hi to the Garrison. My story is probably the same as 99% of you. I was about 9 or 10 when I saw the original, and from moment you see Stormtroopers on screen, I thought they were the coolest. I may have rooted for the good guys, but had to acknowledge they didn't look nearly as cool as the bad guys! I mean seriously... X-wing Pilot orange? That's not intimidating. (Though an x-wing is...)
Anywhoo - Always dreamed of having real TK armor. 30 years later (yeah... i'm in the 40+ crowd), I think I finally have the time, money, and inclination. I have 2 sons that I've gone through the whole Star Wars excitement with, and it never really goes away does it?
So I'm friends with Mosi and Mindie from way back. They come over to dinner this week, Mosi just happens to bring TK armor of his own that more or less fits me (he's probably got 2 to 3 inches of height on me), and I get suited up. Nice. And then, in all seriousness, he also tells me about the volunteerism and fund-raising the CCG does, and being former military myself, that certainly appeals to me as well. Those of you that were in know you do a lot of volunteering of time and fund-raising when in uniform, and it starts to become a source of pride. So I'm thinking here's a chance to live out a childhood fantasy, and charities profit? That's perfect.
So here I am, armor-less, but ready to go through the steps to get TK'd, get signed up, and go trooping. My name is Johnny.
