New kid on the block
« on: March 01, 2010, 01:52:12 PM »
I'm very new to this, and don't even have a costume yet. I'm having a hard time finding one for a persony size. I'm 6'1 and 230 lbs :P
I'm also on a budget for now, so a relatively cheap one would be great. $150 or (very much preferraby) below 150 would be fantastic. I'm also intersted in becoming a spotter at any of the upcoming events

Hey Bill,
Welcome to the forum. I am glad to see my email made it your way.
You'll find being a spotter once, or twice, will be a reward in its own.

Getting a movie caliber costume for 150 dollars, or less, is going to be
a challenge. The gauntlet has been thrown....

I'll have to cross a few "T"s, dot a few "I"s, and grease a few palms, but
as long as you might be flexible to 175 I think we can get you into an
Imperial Crewman.

Which is this costume...

I'll need a few things, such as shoe size. Look for another email soon.....

Welcome!

For $150, you are going to be looking at an Imperial Crewman costume. $150 may be a bit on the low side though depending on if you can score some cheap boots or not. Costumebase on Ebay has the jumpsuit that most of us use. $75-ish

Gloves from leathermystics.com - $25
commpad - 20
correct shoulder patches - $10
Belt w/buckle and greeblie - $35-40
hat - $25-50 depending on quality
boots $25 and up depending on quality.

I actually have some boots that you can have for $20.. they are replica German jack boots that don't fit me. I think they are size 11.

Gloves aren't a requirement for IC approval so we can scratch that off the list,
or save it for an after approval upgrade.

This is a pretty good deal Bill. If 11 is your size (or close to), I recommend you purchase them.

Thanks for the suggestions and stuff guys!
I really had no idea how spendy this stuff could be, but I've wanted to have a nice stormtrooper outfit for a long time :D
a size 11 would probably totally fit me, maybe we can talk more about those boots soon

Later on, after I have more money, what's a good costume for a guy my size? Something armor-y.
Cooter, you said you were a tie pilot, and you're about my size. How much was that costume?

I've ne'er seen a 6foot jawa before, lol.

So here is the deal on the TIE pilot.... the costume that we are talking about is actually the base costume for the TIE pilot so you would need it anyway. Then when you have enough funds for the armor/chest box/lid, you are good to go. The lid/box/armor run anywhere from $300-600 depending on quality. My wife and I both have TIE costumes so feel free to ask any questions.

The crewman costume is also the base for the Imperial Gunner and the Death Squad trooper.

I've never actually looked at the CRL for a Jawa until now. We could definitely get you
in, Bill, as a 6' Jawa if you want.
Although its going to cost more than 50.

477 dollars above the cost of your IC.

The Imperial Gunner is about 300 Above the cost of your IC.

The Navy Trooper helmet is about 200 above the cost of your IC.

Thank you muchly, guys :P
knowing the numbers is a good thing, gives me a good idea of all this.
I'll save up some money and get that ic costume here in the next month or so. I would have just gone with the jawa, but knowing the ic is the base for what I want, I'll stick with that.
Any ideas when some events are coming up?just so I kind of have a deadline lol.
