Scan America
« on: April 01, 2009, 10:14:24 PM »
I didn't realize that it was this easy to listen to us.  For those who are interested in listening to your local police radio.  I'm listening the primary Washington County channel now just trying this out.  Shutting it off now cuss its annoying after listening all day.

Ok that's just creepy. I've been listening for 3 minutes, clark county, and so far
I've heard Narcotics compliant, a Restraining order violation, a restricted Drivers
license, at least one pull over, and a drunk that refuses to get off a C-tran bus....!

Dude... for years people could go to their local Radio Shack to buy a scanner and a book that has the listing for all of the local municipalities to tune into. Many of you know that I had a step-dad who was a police man. He had a scanner at home and I can remember that whenever he went off to work we would turn it on. You could set them to a single channel, or program several channels with the frequencies of the municipalities that you wanted to listen to and let it passively scan. As soon as a transmission was broadcast, the scanner would stay on that channel until the broadcast was finished.

It shouldn't surprise me that they have converted these scanners to the web. That is kind of cool, now I am going to have to check it out when I get home....

Clark County is trunked now so we had to get a trunked radio. :P My Ham radio can listen to ones that are not trunked but its fun to listen. :)

Tony way back then it was called the "Radio".  You didn't have television and as a family you would sit around the "radio" and listen. LOL
