WTF Magma build
« on: July 27, 2019, 10:44:21 AM »
I'll just get this started now. I'll start posting photos and all the good stuff once I collect the kit from Luke and boots from Chris. Still need to work out the materials I'll need. The usual strapping isn't applicable from what I've seen. So I'll probably go with snap plates. No need for rivets beyond the thigh ammo pack and maybe the cod.

I'm also a little anxious and proud to be the first for the Garrison. Going to be a fun build I think.

So as a curious thing about what would it cost for a printed SE-14R?

So in taking on this kit and build I've found a reason to use my pauldron. Though it will require a bit of a paint job from white to black. Though I'm sure that plastidip would do the job. So cleaning that up and giving it a prep and paint job too tide me over.

So first package is in all my hardware for the kit screws, nuts, rivets and washers from Joseph on FISD. One more week for BBB day and then eventually I'll get the boots.

Snaps came in today and picked up my BBB from Mike last night. Tomorrow the trimming begins. Also in some strange little way it makes me want to giggle knowing I'll be the Garrison's first magma trooper.

So I've started rough trimming and noticed some areas don't leave much return edge so this may go faster than I thought.

Trimming is now mostly done I think since I won't be using the bracket system. I'll be going all snaps with this one. Also really glad I have a belt sander it made things easy and faster.

Decided to start on the bucket and got the eyes and teeth mostly done I'll need to do some clean up before it is ready to shape and be ready for assembly.

So I'm pretty sure I'm ready for sizing. But I tackled the bucket and ears. Ears are still in need of fine trimming, but they seem good. Not sure what is going on with the right side though.

So I finally got my replacement thigh ammo pack. But there's a problem it is very orange compared to the rest of the kit. Then the boots are slightly off color from that so all three are different colors.

Ya, i painted the boots the color of my ShockTrooper, you will need to color match/repaint them. Same with thigh piece, it was pulled from a different batch of plastic.

I may poke around for other paints, but the match between the boots and armor is pretty close.
