Brian's Kylo Ren The Last Jedi TLJ WIP

Gosh, I pulled everything together a while ago but have been too busy to organize it, let alone troop in some months. But on to goals for 2019 and first goal, is get another Kylo approved!  Posting WIP here to help future Kylo TLJs. I have a couple of opinions along the way but you should always check latest CRL.

Only 2 holdovers from TFA for me: (1) gloves and (2) Anovos bucket.  The rest is new or upgraded for Ep 8 version.  Took my old pants and fixed them for TLJ (darts, seam).  New boots.  New sleeves with Ep8 spacing.  Slimmer belt (less layers to wear) with new saber clip.  Soft parts through Karina Lugo (SpaceKittenStudios on Etsy) and even shipped her 2 pairs of pants for the darts and seam since sewing isn't my specialty.

All of the gear here:

Starting from bottom of the costume:
Boots for Ep8 are pretty much "level 2 for Ep7".  If you start from scratch, my opinion is just get the Ep 8 ones as you can get more mileage/costumes out of them.   CrowProps: "Episode 7/8" https://crowprops.bigcartel.com/product/kr-boots-final-version    The Ep8 leather is is nice, softer and I highly recommend it.

Pants for Ep 8 are similar but need the darts on front of knee and seam in back. Much like the boots, if starting from scratch, my opinion is to just go for "Ep8" level and it will be backward compatible for Ep7.

Darts:

Seam:

Tunic:  You could re-purpose the tunic if you also do the Supreme Leader (no bucket, no neck seal, etc) version.

Cape: Ample info on the pattern cuts and number of panels, etc.  I recommend finding someone to help you with this, ditto the tunic.

Closer up:

Belt: is fairly similar to Ep7 but likely needs to be shortened a little bit due fewer layers being worn from Ep7 to Ep8.  Big change is the saber clip.  It's all unseen under the cape.  I think nearly all Kylo's source through Paul Haga, PHProps on Etsy.

Sleeves: Again, like the belt, they are pretty similar...but different enough.  Main difference is Ep8 sleeves are slightly shorter.  Note the CRL for Ep7 is "extend past the wrist" and for Ep8 they extend "to the wrist".  Old pleat count was "35" and new one is "32 to 42".  I have new sleeves, they are the correct length, even more form fitting to my arms than my Ep7 ones and have the correct spacing for Ep8.

Neck seal: the "basic" version is re-usable from Ep7 but the higher level Ep8 will have more strips ("approximately 14" instead of "at least 6").  The oddity with Ep8 is it worn on top of the tunic.  Neck seals can be sourced through a variety of places including, like the best, from Paul Haga PHProps on Etsy.

Bucket: Same bucket as Ep7, yay.  Anovos (used to, at least) and many other makers out there can assist on this. I use Anovos.  Unless Kylo finds some Krazy Glue, there won't be any more buckets!

Saber Hilt: No surprises here.  I re-use from my StarKiller Base (SKB) version of Kylo.  In theory, you can's see it due to the cape.  Current CRL has the hilt required (the blades are not)

When I get back from Spring Break and understand the spring Softball/Soccer season a bit better for my daughters, I will be able to get involved a bit more and also submit this TLJ for approval, etc.
