A small victory today.

After a couple of attempts I got the hand guards sewn onto the gloves:

I greatly underestimated how difficult it would be to sew these on!  Getting the needle thru the holes near the knuckles, from the inside of the glove, was really hard.

That sounds like a nightmare! I would have stabbed myself repeatedly while doing it.

Very small update today.  I added the chicago screw to the top of the helmet.

Measured for center:

And after drilled and installed:

I'm still trying to decide if I want to use pads or a hardhat suspension system in the helmet.

I would think the pads would be more comfortable.

I got several little things done today.

I drill the holes for the chicago screws to attach the shoulder straps:

Then I did some fitting to determine how long to make the nylon shoulder straps for the backpack.  Once I had that figured out I decided to attach the nylon straps to the chest using some snaps. I made a couple snap plates, and then added the snaps to the actual straps:

Then I attached the shoulder straps to the chest and glued the snap plates:

Then I drilled the holes in the shoulder bells and sewed them to the duster:

Then I sewed the belt loops to the duster:

Finally, I weathered the helmet.  Looking for feedback on how it looks:

Time to straighten up the shop:

Looking good! I think the weathering looks pretty good but will let some snowies opine as they would know better.

I had a few spare minutes, so I added the helmet pads and chin strap:

I'm in the home stretch...

I thought this label would be hidden by the cod:

Untitled by daryl doak, on Flickr

but it's not, so I removed it while wearing the pants.

Then I added the lense to the helmet.  This is just a temporary installation:

And finally, the first time I have put this entire thing on.  The duster, pants, boots, and pouches still need to be weathered.

More progress.

I trimmed some excess off of the side of the cowl.

before:

after:

I wanted to raise the backpack a bit, so I added additional snaps to the shoulder straps.  Raised it about 1".

Untitled by daryl doak, on Flickr

Bought some foam to fill out the pouches.

before:

after:

Untitled by daryl doak, on Flickr

TrooperMaster pointed out to my, on my Blizzard Force build WIP, that I put the lower backpack strap on backwards, so the velcro fold-over ended up on the outside, which is not accurate.  Bummer:

wrong side:

Untitled by daryl doak, on Flickr

So I decided to remove the velcro and sew it on the proper side.

Untitled by daryl doak, on Flickr

Now it's on the right side:

Untitled by daryl doak, on Flickr

I decided to make the duster close tighter, so I moved the snaps out.

After I changed how the duster closed in the front, the belt loops were no longer in the proper spots.  So I moved them also:

New position on left in photo, old on right:

And here it how it looks:
