Hello,
My name is Robert. I live in North Portland(St.Johns). I am interested in getting involved, volunteering and building/buying a costume. Any help would be great. I have sent an email to Allan, he said that I should join the garrison website and introduce myself. Well, here I am.
Looking forward to meeting you all,
Robert

Welcome Robert to the forums.
I, like you, had a hard time coming up with what costume to choose.
I find that doing a costume that nobody else in the garrison has
is always a neat choice.
Here are some fine suggestions...
Commander Neyo
Commander Cody
A Galactic Marine
Oddball
Episode II Trooper (with a rank)
or just about any clone is super....!

Thanks for the Hello's Rob's. Is there someone that would not mind chatting with me about costumes. There are so many to decide from. I am under a really strict budget and I can explain later. I kind of like the stormtrooper styles, like sandtroopers, biker scout(white & black) and some of the Special Ops., too. I guess I need some help trying to decide. I am looking to get involved with the volunteering and charity work, but still need to keep tabs on the dollar situation. Any help. I can email you with my phone number if anyone wants to chat. I am also in N.Portland if someone is close, coffee?
Thanks,
Robert

Just wanted to hello and welcome. May the force be with you on your costume choices.

Is there a site that I can go and see the different types of Special Ops. troopers? Let me know, please?

If you are just wanting to get a costume that will get your foot in the door, one that is budget friendly, I would definitely suggest Imperial Technicians or Officers (my very first costumes). Both can be easily accomplished in about $300, or less and are very easy-to-approve costumes.
They aren't a cool (appearance) as the armored troopers are, but they do have their advantages. You won't have to worry about visibility issues or whether you can climb stairs or not. Of course the downside is that the public gets to see your face. If you don't have an issue with that, then it isn't a big deal.
Just some things to think about. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away!
The 501st has detachment forums for the various catagories of trooper costume. You want to check out the Spec_Ops detachment: http://s11.zetaboards.com/501st_Spec_Ops_Det/index/
We don't have any Storm Commandos (hint, hint).

I like the black costumes on the biker scouts or the stormtroopers. But I have been looking at the Magma Trooper. Any advice or comments?
-
The best advice is to do the costume you want to do, but if that is an obscure trooper, you might finding yourself quite often explaining just who you are. If that doesn't bother you, go for it. :)
Oh, and welcome aboard!

Thank you everybody. I think I am going to work on a Biker Scout costume. If i can get more information on where to get it. I know that no one here makes them. I would like to build it from a kit, if possible, I know that it can save some money.

To Everyone,
Hi, I found out on the Kufo.com that on July 3rd Friday at the Bag Dad theatre will be playing the midnight of Star Wars E5. I was hoping to find out who is hosting this event, because I and my friend would like to would like to join or spot. We have helped before on last years ringing bells for the S.Army in portland. I have a full Darth maul costume, Mask, Tonic, Boots, Gloves, 2 Darth Maul Fx Light Sabers and my friend has a full TK outfit but the boots are not the right one but they are white and they worked last time. I think we could be a great help. I have been trying to get my costume a prove but I have not have time to take new photos. We would still be happy to show up with our costume and if it does not meet your standers we would be fine to not troop that night.
Again, could someone please let me know more about the Midnight Star Wars E5 midnight movie at the Bag Dad theatre in portland. Like who's hosting it and what time everyone will be showing up that night, just in case if I could troop with you guys.
