Cooter, I shall now insult you with my favorite Deadpool quote

"I've seen GI Joes tougher than you. Before they shrunk the poor guy down. I'm talking original, life like hair, kung fu grip Joe. Come to think of it, I've seen Ken dolls tougher than you... "I let Barbie whup me coz I'm a wuss" Ken, is tougher than you."

I can see it being Portuguese. My only other guess would be Spanish, you know the real Spanish... from Spain!

Qui vigilia als vigilants!

Thank those who are alert/awake for being on alert/watching!

This is a loose translation but it is pretty much literal for the meaning it is in.

It is base Latin, not church Latin, so many of the online translators would not pick up on the spelling...  Though Portuguese, Spanish, and French translators would get some of the words thanks to it being a base language.

Voulund is closest... but not spot on.

Here are some more clues -

It is currently the official language of a country.

Parts of Italian, French, and Spanish are based on it.

And - It is derived from Vulgar Latin

Well... thank goodness I don't speak "Vulgar Latin."

Well techincally Matt - you speak Vulgar English :P

Vulgar is derived from latin "vulgaris" meaing of people and refers to how latin was spoken rather than written - which is why online translators have such a problem with "Qui vigila als vigilant?"

I am sure this isn't right, but it just seems like it should translate to:
Be Ever Vigilant

Who is watching the watchers?
Title: Re: It's in my skin

Translates to

"Who watches the Watchmen (Watchers)"

Now tell me the language :P

Took me about 2 weeks to find out, so I'm enjoying hording the info

What can I say? I'm a linguist. =D

I did need some serious help from google, but it actually all started in wikipedia... where I researched the many fascinating trees of vulgar latin. Then I realized I could just type in the phrase, tell google to find a related page, and had babel fish translate whatever blog I'd just found. In wonderful bold letters, "CATALAN". Though in all honesty, I thought it was either Romanian or Catalan before I plugged it in.

And that's the story of how!
