Title: Howdy!
Post by: Crossbone on July 22, 2008, 12:43:22 PM
Hey! What's up guys and gals? My name is Zach I'm a student in Salem. My brother and I have talked about making Stormtrooper outfits for years, little did we know we had so much in common with other Star Wars fans. Lol. Currently we are both in the process of gathering information for our suits. I look forward to meeting everyone and doing some good for our community :D If any of you have input that could help I would muchly appreciate it. And don't feel shy to ask me some questions if your curious! See Ya!

Heya Zach.  Welcome.  We can get you set up on armor for sure.  The Member's Dude (Bill) will probably contact you.  I can get you hooked into armor for sure, as well Bill has his contacts.  When you guys are ready just say the word.

Hey Zach. I am glad to see that you stopped by.Thanks for dropping in to say hello. Feel free to browse through our boards and read all the info you can. Also, check out http://www.whitearmor.net/ (this is the stormtrooper detachment for all of the 501st). All the information you will ever need to get the stormtrooper costume together is right there.

As Martin said, when you are ready to order armor look to do so in-house. We will make sure you don't get hosed. Ebay has some stuff that is good for costumes, but don't go there for armor. We can get you stuff for way cheaper and help you put it together.

Be sure to hit our public events and say hello. Spotters are always welcome to events. Most of our members were spotters before they became costumers, so it isn't like you are the lowest man on the totem pole. A spotter is very much an important role for the costumers.

Feel free to hit me up with any questions that you may have.

Hi Zach! Hope you find a kit soon and start trooping. Wait too long and you'll get distracted and make a completely different costume that starts to consume you... or maybe that's just me. Welcome!

Thanks for the support everyone! I'm looking to buy the armor right now just waiting for a decent price. Cash is tight being in school and what not. If anyone lives in the Salem/Monmouth area hit me up, seeing stuff in person is way better then the internet (I promise I'm not a murderer) Anyways, if anyone wants to sell me a kit personally let me know, like it was said before buying "in house is better than e-bay." I'm making a Minigun right now for the costume. I've never posted picture on here so I'll try different links. Don't bash me if they don't work. Here are my schematics. I'll be putting it togeather this weekend.

Hey Zach...
Nice Idea on the mini. Just one comment though: Stormtroopers don't carry miniguns.
You need to be an Arc Trooper!!! --Woot Woot. We always need another clone!!!

Greetings Zach, I think we have a few troopers down in the Salem area... haven't seen them on the boards in a while though.

I live in McMinnville so we're not that far away, I have a TK, A Clone, and an unfinished TK if you ever want to check them out let me know...

Haha I figured someone would call me out. I was kinda just doing it for S**ts and giggles, but an arc trooper huh. I'll look into it!  :D

Don't worry about that.... Cooter is just being Cooter!
Besides, Cooter, you can't be claiming canon when you aren't, yourself!

You should contact Daverian here on the board. He made an awesome mini-gun for his TX (all black stormtrooper). That might be something to look into. I am sure Dave can save you a lot of headache when it comes time to assemble this weapon. Seriously, if you want a costume that would compliment the mini-gun, I would do the black stormtrooper.

Not trying to take you away from the Arc Trooper, but a stormtrooper is one of the easier kits to get a hold of. If you don't get the plastic in black, it could always be painted. Just an idea.

Paul is in your area and can give you a lot of good advice on how to put the armor together.

If it is a 501st Clone, there are two "racing stripes" that go down the sides of the legs, kind of like Han's bloodstripes on his trousers, not downward diagonal stripes across the thighs like you have.

See the racing stripes? Also, there are no downward diagonal stripe across the thighs.

If it is the blue ARC Trooper that you are going for, all the photo references that I have found ( I don't have any right now to post ) don't have blue stripes crossing diagonally down the thigh armor. Their legs are void of any kind of paint schemes.

If your clone is based off of something that I haven't been able to find, I would like to see the reference pics.

Bill my clone is based off of 501st Clone Commader Vill. He was in the "Star Wars The Dark Times: Path to Nowhere" comic series.
He has more than enough apperances outside of the film to qualify for canon. Here is the best refrence photo I have found:

This wasn't heated, not at all. This was a misunderstanding.....

But the point was that a non-member was calling canon issues on another non-member when that first non-member isn't quite canon, himself. Make sense? In other words, use encouraging words to the newbies, Cooter, no need to rain in on their parade just ye..... you are taking all my fin away!

That was a joke, by the way.... the taking all my fin away bit.
