Title: Reporting in... ?
Post by: Hoot on June 17, 2008, 06:15:56 PM
To all,

I figured that my first post should be a hello to the Garrison. So, hi everyone..  :?

I guess a little about me:

I live in the "patrol area" of the garrison.  I have been intrested in joining the 501st, for some time. Currently I am in the, planning phase, of constructing an officers uniform.

It was great to see the garrison, and the Rebels, at the Starlight Parade.. I was disappointed to see that you were placed near the end of the parade.

But which kind of armor?

There's the simple Veers, the light Scout, the medium Mando, the troopers...

So many armors, so few blaster bolts...

Yeah, yeah.... famous last words. Then again, I am all about covering up my mug, too, so it is forgiveable!  8)

Just don't get too far ahead of yourself. It is nice to dream about all the costumes you'd like to have. The best advice I can give (some that I need to heed, myself) is just be patient and take your time with the costume project you have. Don't try to take on too much or else you will get burned out. One at a time, that is the order of the day!

Bill,

That was my plan.  I am taking baby steps, right know, on the officer uniform.  Hopefully things will pickup, over the summer, so that the baby steps turn into toddler steps or better. crossing fingers  Two questions:

1) I was thinking of making my own rank bars what type of: a) metal is recommended for the backing and b) what gauge, of the metal, works well?

2) Is there a size limit for the avatar, ABC x DEF, in this forum?  In the two that I belong to they have diffrent max. sizes that they allow.

Thanks TD-8821 for the welcome.

I'm not sure if Vincent is still making them for the legion or not. But the ones that a lot of the officers have are ones he made. He made them out of aluminum sheet metal. I'm not a good judge of thickness, but I am going to guess that it is probably 1/16th of an inch in thickness.

Vincent did tell me that the red and blue pieces of the rank badge are just electrical covers. You can get them at any electrical shop... although, he wasn't sure if Radio Shack carried them or not.

Hey, Oomar...

Not a problem. That is what we are here for. As far as the avatar, there is a size limit, I think, but I am not sure what it is.

there is almost always at least that much notice given, so you should be good on picking events you want to do ;)

2) Is there a size limit for the avatar, ABC x DEF, in this forum?  In the two that I belong to they have diffrent max. sizes that they allow.

I have three diffrent types of avatars,
1) The first is 96 x 96.
2) The second is 100 x 100.
3) The third is 141 x 117.

Which is OK to use in this forum.

Mine is 100x100.  Across most forums, that is the typical size for avatars.
