Hi there, my name is Kurtis Trimbo and for the last year and a half to two years I've trying decide what kind of armor I wanted to get. First it was scout trooper, then clone trooper, then scout trooper again, then stormtrooper, then rebel commando, then imperial officer and then finally I came across a set of shadow trooper armor and decided thats what I was going to get. So my first armor kit should be coming in the mail soon and I'm filled with excitement and anticipation! Tonight I'll be ordering the rest of my stuff (neck seal, mic, so on)
Um I suppose I can put a bit out there about me. I'm currently attending Clark College up here in Vancouver and work part time at the campus daycare. Star Wars has always been apart of my life and still is. I'm a avid star wars figure collector especially of clone and imperial troops. Other then that I dunno, if you have any questions just go ahead and shoot.

Make sure you touch base with Rob, aka ilovesanddirt, he knows what it is like to be a Shadow Trooper (all the dark color and none of the weathering)!

Hey Nick Z - went through PDX yesterday lugging CCG business cards for you again - didn't see you at either the north or south security. Doubt you'll be there when I come back late Thursday night sooo, will have to try it again another time!

Thank you guys all for the warm welcome! I've talked to Martin, Rob and Scot briefly and I couldn't be happier to join this garrison. From what I've read around these boards you guys are all great. I'm excited to do something like this with such a great group of people.

I'm fine with the all black and no weathering for the moment. But it just means I'll be weathering the hell out of my next set, lol. Also thanks for the info, ever so helpful.

Rob told me that I could get the velcro at home depot and my friend and I were having trouble finding it, my friend jokingly said something along the lines of "he lied to you" and I replied "no way he's a shadow trooper" my friend then said "exactly you can never trust a shadow trooper" lol. I did eventually find the velcro though, lol.

Me and Firestorm are going with all-black Republic Commando rigs, and we're forming Republic Commando- "Shadow Squad"... we're still debating if it's for all-black RC's only or allow all black TX troopers in. Mine and Martin's rigs are going to blow everyone away! :P

Yeah, hi. I'm Shane, Kurtis' friend who bought the Officer's uniform. I figure I'd sneak in my intro in his thread in the spirit of shadows, troopers and otherwise.
So I live down here in Oregon, in a small (small) town called Independence, which is about 15 minutes west of Salem. I'm 21, what some would call "scruffy-looking" and am currently attending Western Oregon University. I'm a philosophy major... yeah... don't get me started.
As far as my involvement with Star Wars, well... Kurt's usually got me beat when it comes to knowing things. I just loved the movies since I was a kid, and tolerated episodes 1 and 2 (3 was pretty good). And as much as I tend to bash the movies (ok, not bash...tease) I still love the story, and it's probably the best setting you can get.

Welcome Shane! An officer huh! That's ok too! :mrgreen: Don't get me started on the Prequels. I was first in line but still had some major issues with the continuity. Was there a particular officer that you were doing? Kurt is not even in the group yet but he is out recrutitng. Wow he is gonna make a find Spec Ops trooper!!! Again Shane we want to welcome you to Cloud City Garrison. Hurry up on that Officer's uniform and then you can become an "Official" member of the 5 Oh 1st!!!! Hoo-RAW!!

Bleh stupid Friday the 13th....for some reason the kids at the daycare today were nuts so I couldn't wait to get out of there and come home and find a nice large box full of plastic. But no dice....stupid UPS pushed it back to Monday, which sucks! Mondays are my busiest days! I hate you Friday the 13th.

I got my kit today!!! Before Japanese class I put my chest plate, back plate, shoulder bells, biceps and hand parts together. The front and the back of the helmet are together but i'm waiting to finish it until I can tremel the frown, add the lenses that are one their way and get my lining put in. I have to thank my mom for helping me though! She was just as excited as I was, definantly a perk of moving back home, lol.

I'm almost done putting everything together. I need to finish the legs and I'm waiting on my neck seal. The the last thing I need is a new brow for my helmet. I had to reajust my helmet and so my brow is all messed up, I'm not sure what I should use though. I've been looking at insolation and I bought some but it was crap. Any ideas?
Also I got Shane's uniform in the mail yesterday, I had to have it sent to my house because I forgot to write down his address before I went to pay for it, lol.

As far as the brow stuff, I think you can go to Home Depot. Go back in the window weatherization/insulation section. That is where I would check or ebay.

It's neoprene self adhesive insulation, Knaves.
Shoot for the same size - if you're able, bring a sample for those yahoos at HD or Lowes - they should have it in stock by the cabinet hardware and should be able to lead you right to it.

Thanks for the tip! I went a head and threw down too much money for the mesh/brow combo and got it in the mail the day I saw the post, lol. But I figured I would save on my girlfriend gas money and buying full packs of both, I hope I'm right, haha. But next time I need a replacement or anything I know what to look for and by then will probably want to invest in a full pack. Thanks again!

thanks for the heads up. at the moment I think I may need a ab button though, lol. I made two of the holes too big and they keep popping out, when I was wearing it today I lost one in the yard i'm pretty sure. I'll have to go sift through the grass.
I did get a couple of photos. I'm not done with my legs and the bicepts don't fit all that great at the moment. Also one of my ammo pouch rivets came undone today, i'll be fixing that soon along with shaving, lol.

Could you even get your noggin in a TE2? :lol: The funny thing about Kurt's shiny armor is that his is from there SUPER glossy new abs when mine is from the NOT so glossy old abs. :oops: Dave and I were talking about what we should do besides have Kurt not stand next to us. :mrgreen:

I'm eventually going to take some pictures with my voice changer vader helmet on because I hear a lot of shadow guys get called darth vader, lol.
Thanks for the compliment really means a lot. Like I said over at the detachment threads I like getting complimented because then I know I didn't screw my first kit up that bad, lol.
Man thats a sick looking minigun, when I was leaning towards arc trooper I was planning on trying to build one for that. I heard someone put a drill motor in theirs to spin the barrel, I was hoping to try and attempt that.

I built the minigun to be light weight. It did spin for about 15 minutes, until I burned the motor out. I am not good with figuring out power issues. I guess it was too much of a load for the toy truck motor I used. I actually thought about a drill motor, but couldn't figure out the power issue. I was thinking light weight and something that could run for hours if needed. If anybody knows about such things, I am all ears! It actually looks better now that I added more hoses and things....
Rob lent me some pauldrons to check out. A grey one and a black one. The black one is thicker. I still haven't decided which one to buy.

The "Shadow Troopers" are not the black armor like we have.
We are the "Blackhole Stormtroopers".
TX refers to any of the special ops, and there are many.
Shadow troopers were from Dark Forces 2. ...and while some have come close, I have yet to see full armor made including the green chest crystal.

Depends on what toy company you go to? Black armored stormies have been called "Shadow, Steath and Blackhole". :mrgreen:

The Shadow Clonetroopers are on the clonetrooper.net boards and also the Spec Ops boards. But OUR armor is under the Stealth armor section which is also commonly known as the "Shadow" trooper. :mrgreen: :wink:

Yeah there's so many differant names or our armor, haha. I just like going by shadow trooper because i like the fact that the word shadow is in the title, haha. I showed my friend my helmet and told him it was for my shadow troopers set and he asked me if I had a lightsaber because the shadowtroopers from dark forces if i remember correctly had some force training.
