Hi all!
Of course I'm new here as you might expect. Please just call me 'blade', I live in Tualatin, My wife will be joining shortly as well. I am a U.S. Army Military Police Vet. I have been working in public safety most of my adult life, and volunteer any several community projects. I would love to get involved here as often as I can. I understand the cost, and I'm willing to invest whatever it takes, knowing that this is to give back to our community, the vulnerable, and to brighten peoples day!
Now.. I just have no idea what to do next.. LOL! Please help!
Thank you!
~David

Welcome. What costume are you interested in?
-
I'm leaning toward the Dessert Trooper, but haven't decided yet. I may just keep it simple with the regular trooper armor. But, a little more research is needed.. :)
-
Good to have you Blade.

Welcome aboard! :azn:
If you're still undecided about your costume, you should take a look here.

You may find some cool looking costumes that you didn't even know existed! That's partially how I made up my mind.

Welcome Blade!

Welcome! Sandtroopers are great, and we have a number of members that have built them locally as well. Once you nail down which costume you'd like to do we can help you get pointed in the right direction. Feel free to swing by our meet and great on Oct 16 too!

Thank you!! Y'all are very hospitable! My facebook is David Hewlett, feel free to look me up, I feel I will be making some good friends here! 8)
My wife and I will try and make that meet and greet also, please send me the details.
I am getting super excited to get this in motion, have to admit, it is intimidating...
-
Here's a link to the meet and greet: https://www.facebook.com/events/693622210792502/
It can be intimidating, but just take it a step at a time and don't get discouraged if it takes longer than you'd like. And ask for help when you need it!
-
Oh, it's super intimidating for sure! We've all been there. Like Mindie said, just take it 1 step at a time and ask questions. We're here to help! :azn:

Thank you! I will take it step by step.. I know if I stay with it, I will get there.. besides, I have you all!! :)
-
I am truly leaning toward Dessert Trooper, what should be my first step? My wife and I are definitely attending the meet and greet, is there anywhere I can start before then?
I will start combing the forums also to get answers. :)
Thanks!

Welcome and great meeting you both yesterday. Look forward to seeing the progress and costumes for both you and Kirsten. While you are both working on costumes, you can still attend events as spotters. They are always appreciated and so incredibly helpful. It is fun and you get a feel for how it is to be in costume and at events before actually doing it. There is a thread on the forum that highlights events for spotters. Another way to help out, especially while working on costumes.

Thanks for coming to the meet and great, it's always great to put faces to names!
-
Thank you for making us feel at home! I purchased my armor today from Walts Armor, and having the additional sand trooper gear being made separately!
