Starlight Parade is one of our most popular events every year, and it's what a lot of people in Oregon recognize us from. It's a fun parade, a great chance to get our groups in front of thousands of people, and a really unique experience! The parade is a great event to come out and meet many members of Cloud City Garrison and Kashyyyk Base and always needs many spotters.
NORMAL EVENT STUFF
WHAT: Starlight Parade
WHERE: Our usual spot is a parking lot at the corner of Couch and Broadway.
DATE: Saturday, May 31
TIMES: Streets close early, so we suggest you arrive before 5:00 p.m. We meet across from the Park blocks, so we'll likely set up shop there to hang out until it's time to get suited up. The parade does not begin until it's dark out. It's not unusual to be in costume in the staging area and then marching from 8:00-11:00 p.m. or later. Expect a long, fun evening!
PARKING: Parking in the pay lot costs about $5. This will be confirmed and updated as we get closer.
OTHER DETAILS
•All parade participants must be at least 12 years old.
•The parade route is about 2 miles long. Pace is a relatively fast walk.
• Water will be available before and after the parade, but we should try to limit drinking water while on the parade route.
•Food is not readily available near our staging area. Bring food with you and be sure to eat it so you have energy to complete the parade route.
•We'll post as soon as we have details about our placement in the parade (our order #).
•Wear comfortable clothes and shoes to participate in the walk.
•We will be signing a liability waiver on behalf of all participants. It's your responsibility to read and understand it, it can be found on the application: http://www.rosefestival.org/wp-content/uploads/pdfs/2014-starlight-parade-application.pdf
Hope to see you there!

I'm not on call that week, so I'll work hard to be there as a reserve pilot fully approved.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Jot me down for this one! I've read the liability waver. :) Looks like your staging area is 5 blocks from my office. I could probably let folks in to use the restrooms if there isn't a superior option.
I have started sourcing parts on a AT-ST driver -- hopefully I can get everything together by then.

Saberwolff TK 2129, I have a couple of family members who have spotted in the past that said they are ready to go.
Names are Adam and Ana Hertal. They have spotted for starlight before so they are pretty much ready to go.

Great! I'll add them to the roster. Thank you!

Coming up fast! Anyone else interested in helping out at the Starlight parade?
-
My wife, Kirstie, will be there to spot as well!
-
My wife might help spot too, if she gets the day off from work.
-
I'm new to this and would like to help. I am also a professional photographer so I could take photos as well would love to be a part of this.

Great! I'll add you all to the list. See you on Saturday!!

It'll be great to see you there. I'll fix your name. :-)

Jessa and Beau are volunteering for spotter duty again this year. They'll make sure no crazy ladies try to make Chewy have their babies ;)

Sweet! I'll add em to the list! Thanks.

Please include me as a spotter for this event. I had a great time spotting at the Winter Hawks Mascot night, and look forward to meeting even more members!

My wife, Kirstie, can no longer make it to help spot. Sorry Missy..

That's ok! Thanks for jetting me know.

Gotcha on the list, Mel! Thanks and we'll see you there!

Gotta couple more spotters for you, Carl Duyck and Rafael Duyck. they haven't spotted before but know the drill.
Will, Saberwolff

Great! Thanks!
-
I've updated the first post with some pictures of where we're parking and meeting.
-
Sounds like Jessa and Beau will be bringing along one of Jessa's new coworkers to help spot as well, so there's another one for the spotter ranks :)
-
We seriously need to make some lighted "spotter vests"
:D
-
hello guys i have 2 more spotters coming with me....shawna and justin. and possibly one more tk.
-
Can't get to the recommended lot - parked at 4th and Flanders for $6 near the Chinese gardens. Lots of space and easy to get to if you are coming over the steel bridge

HUGE THANK YOU to all of our wonderful spotters last night! We couldn't do this without your support so thank you so much for coming out to support the parade!
You guys and gals rock!

Steve is correct, We couldn't do this without your support. Thank you.

Thanks (again) for the opportunity to spot this year.
I had my hands full as Vader's spotter, and kept him moving along despite the dead battery for the helmet fan. He did a great job for his inaugural troop!
Hope to see several of the characters on August 9th at the Dash For Kids charity event at Portland International Raceway. This would be the 3rd year for the 501st at the track, and many of the kids and drivers are looking forward to to opportunity!
And as before, I will arrange the race car rides for all who troop.

Mark, I'll PM you to get the details on the PIR troop (just in case anything has changed) so we can get that posted up and on our calendar!
-
Well, I don't think I've shuffled 33 city blocks while trying to keep a banner from blowing away in the wind before... but thanks for letting me tag along. :D
I didn't realize it at the time, but I think my ears were hurting from all the screaming fans the next day.
