Thanks to Rick, our powerful Wookiee, I was introduced to this amazing event! It's basically a 5k (3.18 mile) obstacle course similar to those crazy Japanese shows which were popular years ago which inspired the ABC show "WipeOut". Costumes are encouraged, and there will be live music, food and fun! The event takes place September 10, 11th.
Rick and I have registered for the Saturday afternoon 1:30pm timeslot as a tag team of Hardcore Luchadors! (Mexican Wrestlers for those who aren't familiar.) :)
For more information, check out WarriorDash.com (http://www.warriordash.com) and visit the Oregon link.
And now, introducing my newest alter ego -- El Kreador!

My wife signed us up last week. Not sure my start time. But if I see some luchadors, I'll come over and put you in a headlock.
-
we had some Mando's do it last year...
-
That's awesome David.
By the by, this is the correct way to weather a TD right?
We might have some folks from my school doing it - I never thought of doing it in costume. Hrrrrrmmmmmmm

I wouldn't recommend wearing armor for something like this, as you'll need to be flexible to go over and through obstacles, and 3-4' deep water, over floating logs, under barbwire in the mud, etc....
Will be awesome to see what other costumes show up - although from the YouTube videos I've seen, most are simple Pirate, Spartan, Viking, or other simple "warrior" style characters. The Luchadors fit perfectly since we'll be flexible, and also have appropriate knee and elbow padding. :)
And if any marks get a little cute, we'll be sure to rough 'em up good and protect the business, old school!

sooo....gay biker Mexican wrestler?
and yea James from up north did this last year, I don't know if it was with a throw away mando kit or his actual armor but he ran it
-
I was kidding about armor - I'd be tempted to wear a Jason VII to get some good weathering on it though. I think we're signed up for earlier in the morning - but we'll make sure to look for you.

sooo....happy biker Mexican wrestler?
Nothing happy about him! He's a bad guy from Truth or Consequences, New Mexico - about an hour north of the border. Having grown up fighting in the mean streets of Juarez, he's traveled throughout Mexico, South America, and even to Japan, learning his art and beating the snot out of those who got in his way. After nearly losing his mask to Mil Máscaras back in the late '80s, he's never been the same since. Immediately after, he turned on his fans and his closest ally, Dos Caras, Jr. - which lead to a series of incredible battles until El Kreador lost a "loser leaves town" match in the mid '90s, relocating to the Pacific Northwest in semi-retirement. Now, after over a decade in seclusion, El Kreador emerges to compete in the Warrior Dash and prove to the world he still has what it takes to be a Champion!
