Well, I am hoping to set up a midnight release troop whenever it comes out. Heck, maybe I will have my [CLASSIFIED] costume done by then. Here's hoping!
-
thank god 2010, I can't afford another thing this year.
-
Midnight troops are great for me, if they are on the weekends (since I get up at 5am on the week days), but I know that won't be the case. Games are typically released on Tuesdays or Thursdays, if I remember right.
I really am looking forward to seeing the finished product, though. It does look to have a lot of potential, there.

DVD's and games are usually released on tues, which means a mon midnight release............tony

From my retail days, I remember that music is also released on Tuesdays, as well. Music and movies are always released on Tuesdays... I just couldn't remember where games fell into the mix.

TOTALLY GOING SITH.
-
Darn them... they didn't show Republic Trooper Class. That will be my main, though I may also do a Jedi or Sith as an alt.
-
This game looks like it's going to be awesome, can't wait for it to come out.
-
Id be great if all the costuming groups had their own guilds in the game.
on a side note.... given that the RL has OKed the TOR jedi costumes as formal, what are the chances the 501st will do the same for the sith costumes? has anyone heard about this subject from any one? specifically members from the SoCal garrison that made them and did the E3 event?
-
I know that someone is modding a set of TK and TC for the Sith Troopers (complete with LEDs). I think it would be cool if they would allow the generic near-Revans in... Heck, I could even see me doing that bad-arse Sith Lord from the Deceived trailer (especially with my bald head)!
-
I doubt very much that the 501st will allow any of the in-game costumes to be formal status. It is such a huge process to get any new costumes approved, that even if they did, it will take close to a year before they become approved costumes. You'd be better off getting yourself an approved costume first and then having one of the in-game costumes as an informal/unsanctioned costume.
Seriously, the legion has one AT-RT (mini chicken walker from ep III), and it took that guy like 9 months to get his costume approved within the legion.
The costume has to be in the Legion CRL (costume resource library). If it isn't on the list, it is not an approvable costume. To get it on the list, the costumer needs to provide his/her 3 points of reference, high resolution photos of said costume (in every detail), and a CRL write-up to submit to the garrison membership liaison. The GML submits that to the Legion Member Officer, who, in turn, presents it to the Legion Council for approval.
I, personally, think the process is extreme. Realistically, I think the various membership officers should be the ones to make decisions on new costumes, since they are the ones who are judging costumes. It seems a lot of red-tape could be avoided and approvals for new costumes could take far less time.
But that is just me, and that is the current process.

Don't be too sure - a lot of Approved EU costumes have come the way of KOTOR before - Revan and Nihilus come to mind :)
-
True. And we have Thomas Spanos to thank for those costume approvals. But, like I said, that is the process and those costumes were approved over night.
I suppose it depends on the popularity and the mood of our illustrious LMO.

Seeing as how it is the next SW MMORG, this doesn't really surprise me. I haven't seen to many MMORG's played on console gaming systems.

Does any one know what the cost of this game? I definitely want to buy this.

Pure speculation: probably around $50 for the game itself and $15 per month after the first month. That's what most other MMO's cost. I doubt we'll see this game before Q4 next year, though.

Trumby,
Thanks for the information.

I saw the Bioware presentation for The Old Republic at the Penny Arcade Expo on Sunday.
You haven't really seen the trailer until you have seen it in high-definition with mind-blowing sound. I cried.
The game looks great. We got to see quite a bit of gameplay, including the first footage of the Trooper class. The combat looks like pretty standard MMO style action.
The Bioware guys placed a lot of emphasis on story, and they showed several examples of interactive dialogue trees that are fully voiced. That was cool. My only concern is how many cutscenes I will be watching compared to how much time I am actually playing.
It mostly looks like a KOTOR you can play with your friends (and a few other knuckle-draggers). Fun!
