This is just over two weeks away, is it really wise to burn a week with voting, in lieu of pursuing a lock for a location?
IF I am able to make it, I can bring potato and mac salad.
- Bill
-
ill bring the clam dip n chips, and maybe some extra goodies. along with 1 horseshoe set ..............old tony kenobi

For city's hurting for money I have burned a lot of cell phone minutes just trying to get a hold of someone and not a f...ing phone menu. I am waiting for return calls regarding George Rodgers Park and Spong Park, anyone else having any luck.
BYW: I was thinking about big pot of chili beans, they go great with hot dogs or over chips with a little cheese.
It should be me + kiddies makes 3.
-
I am planning, I have to turn in a request to take the day off, to go. What do you want me to bring? I can take care of the chips.
-
Do we have a grill-master in the garrison?

I love to grill, and am typically the one who always ends up doing all the grill work at events. For the 4th of July, I grilled for two barbecues -- One with approx. 100 people, running two grills simultaneously and got perfect grill marks on everything. 75 burgers, 40 keilbasa and 20 veggie burgers (cooked vegan/kosher style even.) The only real disadvantage to being the grillmaster is you usually eat last, but I don't mind that. :)

chili sounds GREAT :twisted:. and i dont know how long this area is open, but i posted this on the other thread last week;
another one is Spongs Landing in keizer. it also has everything, and its right on the willamette river for swimming Shocked (i just throw my dog in). there is one of the 2 covered areas open on the 15th for $75 with no other fees.

Yeah, the lady got back to me on that and she said it was open. The George park had 2 different fees and 2 time slots. The Spong Landing one is looking better to me...
-
I can grill also so maybe The Kreator and I can switch off to make sure we both eat.
-
Spongs Landing is only 7-10 min off I-5 at the Keizer exit, which is only 30 min S of portland.
are we gonna do "pot luck" or "bring your own meat & buns" ?.............old tony
-
I, uh, didn't put a vote into the choices above because I'm in no matter where it is. AND I'll bring T'Igor...if Jodi doesn't have to work, I'll bring her too.
Let's see....what can I bring? Well I'll bring Vegetarian burgers for T-bone and myself (and anyone else who is interested) and I could bring some grilled vegetables (onions, peppers, etc).
-Kyle
-
well I'm out. Going to be in La$ Vega$
-
I don't think I will be able to make it if it is in the Salem / Keizer area. Everywhere else, I could have taken the bus....

if we DO end up choosing Spongs Landing, i will book it immediately. i just went to check it out, and the covered area available has 4 picnic tables, a double sink, free electricity, permanent restrooms, drinking fountain, LOTS of empty mowed fields, a (crappy) horseshoe pit, kids playground, 100 yds from the river and is dog friendly. roughly 4mi off I5, or 2.5mi from my shop.
and i will host a poker/movie/gaming party, (not NEARLY as cool as the "BEST DAY EVER PT I/II", but kind of, almost close, in a different kind of way, sort of fun ), at my house or shop afterward. and there is plenty of room to crash on my couches, spare rooms etc if needed...........old tony kenobi

We have a date and now we have a location thanks to Old Tony Kenobi. Spongs Landing.

Bill,
Need a ride? Baring (Sp?) my boss not accepting my request, to take the day off, I can help give you a ride.
-
we have 6 picnic tables (5 in the covered area), a bbq pit with a metal grill (David volunteered to grill), 2 fire pits, a kitchen/sink/clean up area, power outlets and a drinking fountain and kids playground. there are some trails, and easy river access, some people swim there. i would encourage everyone to bring extra chairs. its a dog friendly park with huge open fields for frisbee, football and even hitting/driving golf balls (it is pretty secluded and unused except for the river area, even though is very close to town). and i am going to dig a new horseshoe pit :D. i will also post some markers to follow. i reserved it from 10:00 am-sunset (9:00ish).
in the following map, we are right in the clump of trees in the middle.
http://www.mapquest.com/mq/4-yfeY
in the following map, you take the Keizer exit from I-5 and head W(Right) on Lockhaven til the end (past my shop in the Albertsons mall), turn Right on Windsor Island Rd N, Left on Naples st N, and Left into Spongs Landing Park.

after the picnic i will probally have a poker game at the shop, (Tonys Kingdom of Comics), or my house.............old tony krnobi

Very cool, I would like to thank Tony for securing the site for our picnic. Now all we need is bodies, come on people sign up.
-
I can take care of the chips.
Seriously, is it OK if I bring chips? IF yes, what kind and how much of each?
-
Any chips are fine I would think. Usually we would have between 35 and 50 people at Golden gate Garrisons picnics and usually 4 bags of chips was plenty. Dipping chips seem to be the best, plain tortilla, ruffled potato chips, anything that would hold dip.
I want to say thanks again to Tony for securing the site and if any one needs a ride to PLEASE speak up and we will get you here. How you get home is up to you.
I am bringing besides 2 gallons of chilli beans, maybe some french bread to grill. 4 camping chairs and my kids tent in case my boy needs a nap. Trying to find the football to toss around would be fun.
-
I'll be there - perhaps I'll cook something too :)
Pepito + 1
I'll check to see if Christy can go as well

Michele and I are hoping to make it, but aren't sure what to bring. Can you update the roster in post 1 with what people are bringing so we can see what's still needed and not bring something duplicate? Thanks!
