So I just saw a way-too-late showing of "Drag Me to Hell" and it (laugh it up) pretty much scared me stupid. I'm probably going to be awake for a long, long time, but I thought I'd share some thoughts on this movie before terror exhausts me and I fall asleep face down on my desk.
I don't have any big reveals, but I'm playing it safe in case people want to experience it for themselves. I promise I'm not ruining any fantastic plot twist or anything. Honestly, if you don't see half this stuff coming, then you aren't taking enough notes during movies.
If you don't like projectile nosebleeds, or people throwing up maggots, this movie is not for you. If you do, however, like evil goats and possessed people vomiting kittens, then you should have bought your ticket yesterday. The "jump" moments were pretty predictable, but something wonderfully awful always seemed to follow. At times, it was so ridiculously gross that you just couldn't help but laugh. Seconds later, you're hiding inside your own jacket because an angry gypsy is trying to gum a blond girl to death. This same gypster later jettisons her own eyeballs from her skull and splatters the girl's face with them. What the HELL? Funny, yes. Also painfully disturbing. And someone needs to tell Sam Raimi that a lamia is not a goat man; it's a baby-eating snake lady. Noob mistake.
I'm also a wuss and find fish terrifying, so maybe you'll have a grand old time.

You went without? Have the last two weeks meant nothing to you? I cry now.

A friend of mine called me up last night and made it seem like a good idea. She doesn't know anyone else who has the sand to see those movies. I apparently have enough of a spine to get into the theater, but not enough to keep me from jumping out of my seat. I'll take you myself if I'm allowed to put a bag over my head when the movie starts.

Besides, you really don't want to see Martin start crying and blubbering like a wee baby. It's a really sad experience...
