I keep hearing rumors about our weapons not allowed in Parades due to this Terrorist BS just wondering if we are marching without blasters? :(
-
This is the first I have heard of this.... realistically, it all depends on the venue. I think every parade I have been a part of they never had an issue with it. They recognized that the props go with the costumes.
Schools and venues like OryCon are a different scenario. Obviously we don't tote our blasters in a school event for the obvious reasons (guns + schools = bad mojo). OryCon are just uber anal about their weapons and mask policies. They are loosening up on the mask policy a little bit as each year goes by, but their weapons policy is still deeply rooted.
I'm sure if there were a weapons restriction, the event coordinators would let us know about it. At least that is something that our PR guy could follow up with.

The Eugene celebration parade was fun. The same people chanting "DISARM DISARM" cheered us as we walked by with BFGs.

Im a jedi, so i dont need to worry about this, but it all comes down to how much of a butthead someone feels they need to be... its a good thing that not everyone is mega anal about that stuff

At my first event ever - Starlight - a Police Officer Harassed me about my blaster saying "I had better keep it in the holster the entire time or they'd seize it," two of our garrison's own Police Officer's assured me that he was being a such and such and not to worry about it. That's the only time at any venue I've heard of anyone saying anything about it.

This is the second time I've seen this "no weapons in parades" kind of post. Where is this coming from? I haven't ever heard anything. :?

Have not heard anything tlike this for Eugene.

I have never had a problem with my bowcaster before But then again I haven't
found someone big enough to take a wookiee's weapon away.
-
That and the Wookiee's bowcaster doesn't really resemble a real-life modern weapon, not like the DLT-19 (German MG-34) or any of the DL-44's (German C-96 Mausers) do.

I've never heard of this.
in Troutdale ( where I am part of the po-po ) we have a parade every year that has some old cowboy bankrobbers that do a skit with real old west relic weapons that shoot blanks. They just always have to bring us their weapons before the parade and let us inspect them and the ammo.
