Title: Going to Sac!
Post by: tavrikgannon on April 24, 2009, 08:19:13 AM
So, in 12 hours time, I will be on a plane bound for Sacremento for the weekend. The cool thing is that I will be visiting a sister that I have never met.

A 20 year dream is about to come true for me in meeting my sister and getting to spend time getting to know her and her family.

Since my birthday is on Sunday, they are planning a BBQ for me. I imagine that I will get to meet one of my nephews, as well as my great-nephew. My sister has a half-sister in the area, too. So I will get to meet her too.

This is going to be a really good weekend for me, I think. I'm not excited... no, not at all!

Thanks guys! Yeah, I have always wanted to meet my sister. I figured I would treat myself this year, so my birthday present to myself was to go see her.

They are all excited at having me come down for the weekend. I just have 5-3/4 hours to go before the plane takes off.... I'm telling you it can't go by fast enough! However, the closer it gets the more nervous I am getting. I have to admit that I am getting butterflies in my stomach at the prospect of flying - I don't like high places.... and meeting my sister makes me a little nervous, too!

I had the best weekend, ever. I didn't want to come back home, but bills need to get paid. My sister started to cry when I left, it made me feel bad. I wish we lived closer. But it tells me that we both had a great weekend and we hit it off really well.

They spoiled me with cake and ice cream on Sunday and they gave me Pan's Labyrinth on DVD. When my brother-in-law found out that it was in Spanish (with English subtitles) he offered to take it back and get me something else. Since I have never seen it, I opted to keep it. I told them it was the thought that counted more than anything.

This was a very special birthday for me. I really fet blessed to have had the opportunity to spend it with my sister, brother-in-law, nephew and his family.

I couldn't have asked for a better weekend!

I'm glad to hear it Bill. Catching up with family that you haven't seen in a while, or at all,
is always a blessing.

Good choice keeping the film. Its fantastic. I loved it.

I'm sure I will like it, too. My brother-in-law didn't know what to pick out. He just figured it would be something that I would like. I'm sure that he chose a good movie.

Great news Bill!  Its a GREAT film.  You don't even notice its in subtitles.  Except it is funny when the "Nazi's" are all speaking spanish.
