OK troops,
It's that time of year again... THE STARLIGHT PARADE in downtown Portland is coming upon us again on Saturday - May 30st, 2009!!
THIS IS AN OPEN INVITATION TO PRETTY MUCH ANYONE WHO HAS A "PARADE WORTHY" STAR WARS COSTUME, OR WOULD LIKE TO HELP OUT WITH SPOTTER-DUTY!!
As per Starlight Parade Committee rules: NO PERSON UNDER 12 YEARS OF AGE IS PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE
The entry fee is $250 for the group, and the registration fee has been $10 per person in the past. All those who want to be in the parade wearing a STAR WARS costume MUST pay the individual registration fee, those who perform spotter duties need not pay the registration fee. I would like to get all the registration funds by March 3rd as the submission deadline is March 6th, and I'd just as soon not have to front the entire $250 group fee out of my own pocket. All monies left over will be donated to charity! :D

Please put 2009 Starlight Parade in the subject line , and include ALL NAMES and FORUM SCREEN NAMES being paid for in the notes section!

I'm going to do this a bit differently this year to make it easier to keep track of the money... your name(s) will NOT be added to the roster until your payment has been received!

is it to late to get in on marching in the starlight. I was soposto be out of town that weekend but now it looks like plans may be changing?

PP'd you the $10, to be apart of Starlight. I will have my 1st. Air Cavalry uniform; ready by Starlight, minus (I think) the cavalry saber. Also I purchased the lights you suggested.

There is no deadline for individuals to sign up, the earlier discussion concerned the group registration deadlines for getting our spot entered into the parade.... so PayPal away!

The JRS has formed the 1st Air Cav. unit. For more information go here (http://www.jrsforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=2357) to get a better feel for what they are doing.

I got a call from my niece last night. She will be marching in her school's marching band in the Starlight. Her band director is a HUGE Star Wars fan and they will be playing the Star Wars theme. I don't know where we are in the line up or where they are, but regardless, she asked if we could visit them before the parade starts for pictures and to amp them up.
Tony are they pretty set in the line up? It would be great to have them march in front of us to amp up the crowd.

I dont have a pay pal account. How can i get registered? I have have a full Lucas Film mold cast Vader get up with FX light saber to go...I would love help out in this charity event and share the force with others :o)

I wouldn't know what they're process is based on, but I would assume they are pretty set with what they have arranged, can you imagine the logistics nightmare of shuffling things around?

Just FYI:
New TV Broadcast Location in 2009! The Starlight Parade is televised live on KGW from Broadway at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Curbside seating on the west side of Broadway along the Square will be limited due to the installation of TV lighting and cameras.
CAUTION: Large Max tracks bumps in the road at this loaction. Don't be too focused on the TV cameras or you may fall down!

Didn't know if you were aware - but, I see that CCG received 2nd place Special Mention Award for Starlight! Way to go you guys!! :D

One of the PGE guys, here at work, told me that you guys got 2nd Place. I was pretty thrilled to hear that. Good job to everyone who made it a smashing success. It is my hope that I will be there next year. Maybe, if you guys are willing, I can bring some other custom mandos into the mix.

Now why would I bring that chowder head?..... unless we were to showcase him as our captured quarry, again. But even that, that is lame. Who would have thought to have some silly Klingon rolling with some Star Wars guys? Oh, right, the dude couldn't find his fellow Klingons so he rolled with us... at least he recognized the true Empire! :twisted:
