In case anyone is interested... lol
So far my moving date is the 21st... and soemtime in January I am thinking of having clothies party.... not necessarily an armor party cause my apartement won't be that big, but anyone is welcome, and the point will be to work on cloth costumes. I will be working on my Mara Jade, my friend Amanda will be working on one of her various anime costumes (for Sakura-con) and anyone is welcome to come! I will keep this in the cantina for awhile to see if there is interest, and once I get moved and can nail down a good time I'll make a thread int he event forum or wherever it should go!
So far:
Idea: cloth armor party (plus any other things that can be worked on in an indoor environment)
When: January sometime
Where: Jodi's new apartment in Beaverton
Why: uhm cause its gonna be fun?
Let me know if there is interest and as soon as I have more details I will post them! (Heck I don't even know if I'm REALLY moving on the 21st... might be the 22nd... might be after christmas HA XD)

I need a neck seal made, but i can't use a sewing machine nor so i have one (i do all my sewing by hand and i think a neck seal might be a bit much).... if i could bring supplies and food might i be able to bribe any of the talented individuals there to make me a neck seal?
(sorry i'll be out of town from the 16th to jan 7th, don't know if you wanted help moving up and in, but i should be able to make it to this provided something else doesn't show up)

actually that sounds like it could be fun....have to wait until later to see if we can go or not...and by that time I should be having my own costume to be working on...hopefully :mrgreen:

I think it is a great idea.
I cant sew, even by hand :oops:. I am interrested in making a black kama for my TX. One of the TX's that I saw at a 501st event at Lego Land was wearing one and it looks kick %$@. should be easy....especially if there is a ''grumpydevil-master jedi'' there that can guide me.
my jawas are also in dire need of some fine tunning, but I'm not sure if my grandma would be offended if I didn't let her do it.
either way, if I can make it, I will make a contribution some how to whoever can help me out.

No worries Allen... even if I DID have to tickle the little jawa into submission XD
As far as projects... I am going to be making neckseals here soon, so A) I will be working on a tutorial for them B) if they turn out I might have one or two to sell just for the hell of it lol (probably around 5-8 dollars muahaha)
If the project works out like I think it will, materials are 1-2 tagless comfy black t-shirts, batting (for quilting, I have the thin type we shall see how that works) and black thread.
So what is a kama? I know what the weapon is but since that isn't a sewing project I haven't the slightest clue what you mean lol
Only thing I will want people to contribute is themselves, though anyone able to bring a sewing machine is highly encouraged to do so. I am going to be buying my own here very soon, like on Monday, (I get my bonus check from work Sun yay!) But one is not enough is many people have projects to work on. *envisions people lining up with projects and swallows hard* If I think of anything else I shall post... I don't even know for sure my move in date lol I will find that out on teh 12th!
I should have moving help covered thanks fo the offer though lol... I gots my parents, my bf, my roomate, my friend... and myself of course!

a kama is the ''kilt'' looking thing that clone commanders can be seen in. (also an airborne trooper...and Im sure there are a few more, but I am hardly an expert)
the one I saw was just jet black, but they are usually some kind of greyish-tan canvas.

Quick update for anyone interested. I am moving on the 21st, then heading to my parents' in Grants Pass till the 25th, coming back to eugene, spending christmas with my bf and friends, then heading back to portland the 26 or 27th, not sure yet. As soon as I get a work schedule together I will start looking at times to do the "cloth" armor party! Hopefully I will be able to have that info up by the 1st, and I will start a thread in event at that time XD.
Question though:
Who has sewing machines they will be willing to bring/let others borrow? I will have mine (I am buying one today I think MUAHAHA), but that will not be enough for several people to use!
I will also be cooking, so there will be food and drink yay!

Anyone is welcome to bring anything they like to eat/drink.... once we get a roster of who will be coming and whatnot we may have to rule out alcohol, but that just depends on who wants to come! (If we are all over 21 then I have no problems with people bringing their fav drinks.... BYOB though!)

Well... physically all of the things I own (just about) are in Beaverton now. I am in Grants Pass. Christmas I will be in Eugene. It is enough to make my head spin! However my move was successful and the next two weeks will probably involve a LOT of putting away and whatnot. I got my new computer YAY! (I have to hide it tomorow though, family politics ugh. I'll be back in Portland the 27th and I will get my work schedule sometime thereafter. Once I have everything settled (and a bed!) I will get serious about the whole cloth party!
