Well gang we have been invited to play with the Washington County Sheriff's Office at Krispy Kreme to help raise money for the Special Olympics. There has been talk of possibly "Deputizing" us so we can affix Washington County patches to our armor during this event (if you want too). Basically we just take over the local Krispy Kreme May 4-6th and ask for donations. Last year Washington County raised $8K and this year they want to break the $10K mark, so they asked me to bring in the big boys.
We were asked to participate specifically on May 5th from 10A-2P. I told them that I would get the word out and if all goes well we might have a few for May 6th also. I told them that we need changing facilities and I was told that they would bring the motorhome or the TNT Truck (SWAT). This might also be good publicity for us too because this location is just blocks away from FOX12.
Location: Krispy Kreme 16415 NW Cornell Road, Beaverton
When: May 5-6th 10A-2P
Roster:
Tony- In-and is bring me back my E-11.

Sounds like a perfect event for members of the MEPD! And Bill. Calm down bro, we are trying to raise money for the Special Olympics not the world record on Krispy Kreme's in one sitting.
-
Does that include anyone from The Rebel Legion...Kashyyyk Base? Maybe Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia..or a Jedi? :?: :?:  :P

Hope to see you there in armor Ben. :)
-
Yeah. It was your first post and we didn't recognize ya!

That is cool Ben, I didn't realize you were official. I think that deserves and official welcome if you didn't get one before!! Welcome Ben, brother of Jim, son of Clan Berning, heir to the throne, master of the seas!!

The roster is updated.
Washington County Sheriff's Office will be proving the Motorhome for us for changing. The http://www.swattrucks.com/ (http://www.swattrucks.com/) might be coming along with a few other cool vehicles. The problem is we have an upcoming inspection from CALEA. If the inspection gets done prior to Krispy Kreme the vehicles will be there. There will be a few of our patrol cars and motorcycles for the Scouts to get their picture on.

Alright I finally got the final word from the boss man on this. The people attending will be given patches if they want them, but they cannot be worn or displayed in our costumes. The second issue is the boss is a wants to know who everybody is that will be attending, basically just to make sure we have no sex offender or paroles in our little group. I assured the office that is not a problem, but for legal reasons they have to make sure and do a quick check. I hope that this does not scare anyone off, this will be less detailed then the OMSI check. They just wanted me to get the full name and date of birth of everyone that plans to attend. So if you plan to attend just PM the info to me. Thanks and sorry I feel like an ars for asking. :(
-
I am still a definite maybe. At this point I have to be in Portland that weekend, so it should work out perfect!!
-
count me in!! :DPM sent!
-
Hi Jim,
I wanted to introduce myself. I am a new member of the forums and can't seem to PM yet. I have been speaking with Martin and he suggested I contact you directly. My name is Jamie and my 6 year old twins Ethan (boy) and Schuyler (girl) are interested in participating in the Krispy Kreme event as Jawas. My kids are big fans of Star Wars and saw you when we went to the OMSI exhibit. I picked up info about CCG and started surfing the web. I found a Jawa costume project and thought it would be fun for my kids. We made the costumes and went down to OMSI on the last day of the show in costume. They really had a great time and want more opportunities to troop.
I attended the Lucky Lab meeting where Martin suggested a Junior Acadamy idea that would allow younger people to participate in your group. I have since decided that it would be easier to do so, if I trooped with them. I am hoping to join the Rebel Legion as a Rebel Fleet Trooper.
Sorry if I am rambling, but we are interested in coming to the Krispy Kreme event if you don't have any objections. Let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks!
-
Jim, can't PM. Your address is hidden. email me and I'll send info.
Gracias,
Barry

The "PM" is what looks like a little cartoon talking bubble under each person's avatar.

Alright, I'm trying to see who is planning to come on 05/05 and who is coming on 05/06? I plan to be there on both days, maybe not as long on Sunday. It looks like all the cool vehicles won't be making it to Krispy Kreme. They are have a big inspection on Saturday from the national accreditation people "CALEA". There will be a big static display at the main office in Hillsboro, which I would be happy to show anyone after the event if they are interested. There will still be motorcycles and patrol cars at the event. Also Krispy Kreme is providing us with an inside changing area.
Thanks Barton the IV for the map . Everyone coming from the Portland side make sure that you take the NW Cornell Rd exit because you cannot get off Hwy 26 at NW Bethany Blvd.

It looks like we will have an awesome showing for this event. Lets polish (or dirty) up our gear it looks like there is a good chance that we will make it on TV!!!
I had planned to be there at about 0930 so that I will be able to greet everyone as we arrive, but it looks like I can't make it until 1000ish. I have a beer emergency...I'll explain later. There will be people to point you all in the right direction if you beat me there. See you all in the morning.

I am anxious to hear how we fared against the competition. Those little kids were so awesome! Thanks for the memories!
Every troop it seems I learn more.

Someone who returns tomorrow, see if you can get an amount on how much they raised for Special Olympics.
Aside from receiving a rude hand gesture, and almost getting purposely run down by the person who was probably frightened by men in black when s/he was little, it was a good day. Plenty of the little ones. Every time I walked through the building, my helmet fan threw nothing but warm donut smell into my face.
Great to have the local law enforcement there. And Phil, dog gone it. When you went to see about getting a 9 volt, you didn't have to go clear to TARGET!
Great shots, Phil. Tony - now that's what I call positive reinforcement.......
-
Nice Pictures Phil....Thanks for coming and helping.. Karyn and I came about 9:15 and trooped till 11:30. It was great to see the Friends from 501st. We then went to a Free Comic day event and that went well...busy day.. I hope Special Olympics raised alot of money.. Please let us know....
Dave...glad you came early to help us out at Krispy Kreme...
Very much Fun while we were there, and Glad to hear a great time after.. WOOT.
Allan
-
I want to thank everyone that took time out of their busy lives to hang out at a donut shop. I probably won't find out the total amount raised until Monday at the earliest. One of the Clackamas County Deputies showed up when I was one the roof. She was jealous, because their band never showed and we were there.
Allan, I liked your new gear. I was thinking later that you need to get yourself a Stormtrooper belt for that set up also. There has even been a few guys building the grappling hook box on www.whitearmor.net (http://www.whitearmor.net).
Phil, you never have to leave a troop for batteries, someone always has some. I know that I always carry AA and 9V.
I will be back on Sunday also and I hope a few will show up to join me. I know that Bill and Nick2 said they would be there.
-
Hey, TK7905 here,
That was so cool today at Krispy Kreme...! thanks to everyone for making my first ever troop so awesome. :D And thanks to Phil for posting those photos! I had a blast, looking forward to hanging out with you guys again soon.
Greg
-
Greg, it was nice to have a trooper hanging with us! 8) 8) You looked great......
-
Well in order to prevent any further sun burn, I will not make it today. If anybody knows how it went, I would be interested too.
-
Okay my friends, here's the pics for Sunday's troop at Krispy Kreme. Jim, Bill and Nick2 did a great job. Lots of people and donations.
