I’m ready to start a new costume, so I got interested in doing Tech of the Bad Batch. Even though I’ve been hesitant to do any variant of the clones, I figure Tech has less armor and it should be more comfortable to troop in.
Here’s the parts list:
armor (3D printed)-Galactic Armory
undersuit-Under Armor
neck seal-The Jedis Closet
belt & pouches-Delta Leatherworks
boots-Crowprops
filler primer, sandpaper, filler primer and more filler primer
-
I went through about 8 rolls of filament to get all the armor printed. I like using ABS, just because I got familiar with working with it from my TK build. For this build I tried using ASA, since I’ve heard it’s very similar to ABS, but even better.

I’m glad this step is done, but there was plenty of warping going on. I was able to find a bed plate, glue stick and brim setting that helped, but some of the big prints just wouldn’t print flat…so back to ABS (white parts)!
-
I started assembling the chest armor and backpack. I reinforced the pieces at the seams with plates of ABS sheets. Also going to try a tab and slot system to connect the chest and back pieces and keep them lined up.

For attaching the backpack, I’m using a magnet system that another build from the clone trooper forum used. I’m using 25mm x 5mm Disc - Neodymium magnets…must not let them get stuck together!!!

I copied the same build for attaching the antennas…antennae(?)

And a quick test fit…ever seen a thick Tech?!

I’ve spent the last month or so just sanding and filling, so progress has been slow. Getting real close to getting all the parts ready for some paint!
-
I’m not sure if I got the wrong file for the visor, but it doesn’t have the 2 bumps on each side, as called for in the CRL.

I thought a bit about how to make them…then bam, happen to find something to use.

And of course, food brought me the answer.

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

Just a little more sanding and the helmet will be ready for paint! I’ll get a photo of the assembled bucket next.

Looking great, man! Excited to see this one progress!

Not much to update on the progress, but I think 11 cans of filler primer will finish all the prep work.

I’m hoping to get done soon, with the base coat of white on all the parts. Here’s a quick photo of the bucket.

Also got a helmet bag from Wally that came in.

The next update should have all the parts painted with the base coat. The leather parts are also en route, so I can’t wait to see them!

Quick update and just about done with the white base coat. Got the soft goods from Delta too.

Next up is to finish the strapping in the torso and extend the cod and butt plate assembly.
