WHAT: Albany Carousel Invasion
WHERE: Albany Historic Carousel & Museum (https://maps.app.goo.gl/MiYLdRrzRkZSKABr7) in Albany
DATE: Saturday, May 4th
TIME: 11am, but we can adjust as we get closer.
CAUSE:
Albany Historic Carousel & Museum
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, staffed by volunteers and supported by the community. We have a "Carving the Future" program, which is a 6 week carving workshop available to high school students to teach them the art of carousel wood carving, or our "Carousel Cares" program, which supports underprivileged or struggling local kids and families. Both would be great causes to promote and I will leave that to your discretion.
PARKING:
There is back-in-only parking between us and the post office on First Street in Downtown Albany. There is also a gravel lot on Washington Street between Water and First Street that is available (that is where most of our volunteers park their vehicles as well).
CHANGING AND STORAGE:
Facility Manager Office- Large room, door with no window, and medium-sized storage room, total privacy, a great option for storage, rarely accessed and you need a key to get in. Also, private restrooms are available for those who need it.
BLASTER POLICY: Blaster and lightsabers are fine.
MEMBERS' CHILDREN IN COSTUME: Yes, children in costume are welcome to attend
OTHER DETAILS: We would like to promote one of our community causes.
ANYTHING ELSE:
There are stairs in the building, but we have an elevator. When you arrive, you can let any of the volunteers know that you are looking for Joy. I should be waiting for you near the entryway, but in case I am not they will find me. ***If you arrive before we open, then go to the entrance near the gift shop on First Street- there is a doorbell there. Ring that bell, someone will come let you in, then same instructions- if it's not me, just tell whoever answers that you need me, and they will let me know! You can also shoot me a text or call my cell at 971-600-4228. If children in costume accompany volunteers, they need to be chaperoned at all times. If we have a count prior to the event, we can arrange rides for the children in costume.

Oh, I love the Carousel stuff. I also was looking at the event in Dallas. I don't mind making it a double day. If times permits. Of course, like the one in Dallas will know for certain as it gets closer.

Will do. I will know more the closer we get. As to see what all events are near Salem. That way I can see which ones I can juggle. If I need to drop one. I'll drop this one, so you can go as Revan.

Jim, per Chris yesterday at Mid Valley Comic Art Expo, he was a "maybe" here but is not going. I'll bring Revan.

And just to clarify in case it's helpful, I would not have posted to de-roster you for you, but since you had noted you were only watching this one and would know as it got closer, weren't actually rostered and we chatted about it, I felt it was fine to mention you weren't a "maybe" on this one anymore. :D

I didn't feel pressured to drop this one at all. It is my first time in years that I can actually do something for May 4th besides going to work. I was told there be a huge list of events and a spreadsheet. This was one of the earlier ones posted and saw that it was going to line up with some events in Salem. Why I decided to be a maybe. I decided on Dallas over this one since I grew up in Dallas so why not. I do feel like I been hogging the Revan spots, part of why I decided on a second costume, that was a "non-face." There were other reasons for the ISB officer too, mainly the ease of getting into it and seeing in a busier areas or places like the park.
I am happy that this carousel will still a Revan. I been enjoying the ones in Salem and had hoped to get to the ones down south but trying to finish a project and the winter depression lingering over longer than normal made it difficult and I had to ultimately drop.

This is a really nice venue. They would like us to "invade" periodically, like we have done with the Salem Carousel. Stay tuned for invasion news on that. The staff will be forwarding their photos and I'll upload those to the album.
