Well, we got an official announcement, but all Steve Sansweet said was, "Yes, there will be a CV in 2010." Duh! We had already uncovered that fact! Oh well. At least we all know there will be one soon. If you have never been, it is a must do!
-
Rumor going around Comic con is Chicago May28-30.
-
Yes! Awesome! I heard that around the internet, too. Are you at SDCC now?
-
Okay I need a roommate for C5! :P Any takers?

Depending on when and where I am game...
-
Going!!!!
-
I'm in Nick - we can parrt hearty in the windy city :)
-
Oh man...I hope it isn't that weekend. If I want to go to this, May is going to kill me with airfare and hotel costs. I have a con to go to memorial day weekend <.<
-
Steve Sansweet won't deny Memorial weekend in Chicago next year. Lucky for me one of our members from Golden Gate just moved to Chicago last weekend emailed him for a spot on his floor.

Nice! I am already researching for a place to stay!
-
On a side note, the Fan Film awards were amazing. :P
-
It depends on which venue is choosen if its in Chicago. My Dad does a trade show each year for Kodak there so he knows a few good hints on where to stay. :)
-
I could tell you a few places where NOT to stay.
-Kyle
-
Anybody heard of a McCormick place?
-
I'd even give up going to Dragon*Con to hit that. I'm definitely going.
-
You know, I may just have to try to talk Drago into CV, instead of SDCC or D*C......
- Bill
-
Not much talking to do Bill. I'm waiting on the final city announcement to start making plans. Since you had a seat on the SDCC bus you'll still have a seat on C5 trip. If its in Chicago or Orlando I fly free into both cities. That means you would too. Indy would be tougher so hope for Chi-town or Orlando.
-
Next year is looking to be an expensive year for me.
-
If given the choice between Celebration V and SDCC.... hmmm, I think Celebration trumps SDCC. So, I think I need to start saving some moolah!
- Bill
-
especially if they are talking about having it in May.
-
I just hope that they do not have it too close to D*Con. There may be a chance I can go to both if they are at least two months apart...
Now I am waiting for the D*Con announcement....
-
I think you are safe there, man. Dragon Con is usually going on during Labor Day Weekend. Historically speaking, Celebration has usually been around Memorial Day - based on my own observations, of coure.
- Bill
-
Word on the web is the end of May. It will not be during Star Wars Weekends. Bill, start saving. We're only doing one big con this year and C5 is it. Found out we fly free into Indy too. Pack your bags ner vod.
-
Suuuuuuhhhhhhhhhwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!
I have always wanted to hit a Celebration (I've always wanted to hit SDCC and D*C, too, but that is beside the point). I had every intention of going to C4, but it just didn't happen. Go figure... that sort of thing tends to happen when one quits their job!
I will definitely be saving for this one! I'll have to tell my sister that I won't be spending my birthday with her, like I did this year. I'll be needing to save up all my pennies and vacation time for this con!
- Bill
-
Celebration is really fun. I went to 3 and loved it. :) If its Indy or Chicago beware there is a chance of snow. For the people who went to C3 will know what Im talking about. ;)
-
D*Con and SDCC happen everyyear and is loaded with a different kinds of things. But C V is all us baby, SW to the max.
-
I went to CIV, I loved it. It was there that I started thinking about wanting to be part of the 501st. Hopefully I can make it to CV.
-
So is it Chicago or Orlando or do we not know yet 0.o? I really REALLY want to go.
~Katie
-
No news that I have seen yet. It'll probably be a couple months until we see anything concrete. Just seriously hoping it isn't memorial day or 4th of july weekend, as I am going to be at cons on both of those weekends already <.<
If it does happen on one of those two cons I might have to skip one for it anyway.
@drago: where did you see end of may and not during Star Wars Weekends? Curious, because the end of May is always the middle of Star Wars Weekends.
-
Speculation is May 21st - the 30th Aniversary of ESB
-
I didn't see it anywhere in print. I have connections who know people involved in C5 who passed the info to me. And the info is good. I trust this guy so I know he isn't messing with the Mercs. They are moving Weekends up a weekend so they don't overlap.

Ahem.
-
Well, still no announcement of CV! Chicago Comic Con was this weekend, but it seems no new info was revealed. Lufta Shif is getting mad.
-
yeah, been checking all the boards and even the rumor sites. Nada, zilch, denied, humm I wonder what they are waiting for?
-
I don't know, but it is extremely frustrating.
-
I'm hearing it will either be Chicago or Orlando..... Drago is hoping for Orlando, as lodging wouldn't be an issue and we'd fly cheap!
- Bill
-
Orlando would not be good for me! Too many Disney distractions! $$$$$$$
-
Hehehe... I heard that if Orlando is chosen, that they would be moving SWW to a new date so that the two don't conflict.
- Bill
-

I hear that, miss having my annual pass to Disneyland can't image what Disneyworld must be like.
-
Well, I cannot compare Disneyland with DisneyWorld, as I have not been to Disneyland. I can, however, say that DisneyWorld is HUGE! It is like a city with a bus system, highways, etc. The last time I was there (last year) I stayed for ten days, never left the property, and still have not seen it all! 8) Yes, CV there would pose a huge problem for me...but I would still go!
-
I heard a Forcecast today from RebelScum.com and Steve Sansweet did an interview from the Chicago Comic con this last weekend. He was asked about C5. He said he is not saying anything yet,but towards end of Summer they will announce. he said possible C5 will be at end of summer 2010 possible as to not interfer with other Cons and Star Wars weekends in May and June. I hope it is in April 2010. maybe it will be before Labor day. Who knows.. LOLOL
-
Well, end of summer would conflict with Dragon Con, since that is Labor Day... right?
If it were in April, that would be cool, seeing as how it is my birthday and all. But I really can't see them placing it in late Spring, like that. Not when, traditionally, it has been a summer event convention.
Who knows? Maybe we will get an announcement at Dragon Con, this year.

I am still hearing this...
-
Be it Orlando, or Chicago, it is going to be an excellent venue. I've never been to either city, so it is going to be a treat for me, regardless!

Thats how I look at it, never been to either. I am hoping for Chicago though because of the whole "Disney" think going on at the other venue. Although I could dropped the kids off at the park.....
-
I think it would be kind of cool if they held it at the Disney World Resort in Orlando. The parade could go right down Main Street USA!
Then again, I would also be able to stay for really really really cheap (if not free) because of the Shades of Green resort.
-
quit saying Orlando, too much $$$$$$ will be spent. Anywhere else and I can go by myself, if Orlando then my kids will want to go .
-
Just got back from Dragon Con, and Steve Sansweet refused to say when or where CV would be. He did say it would be on the east coast, but that's it. He said any dates and places anyone is talking about is complete rumor. Sorry guys, no new info. :/

SADFACE.
-
Well, rumor mill was that Orlando was in consideration, so maybe that is Sansweet's subtle confirmation that Orlando is the venue?
I hope that I am able to go to this one!
- Bill
-
I was talking to a local indy women yesterday, and she told me that the new convention center wouldnt be ready till 2011 so that rules out CV at Indy.

Latest rumor, brutal news if it is true.
Possible Celebration V News
Posted By Chris on September 21, 2009
Campbell, Co-Founder of the Star Wars Grand Florida Alliance, called in with some curious information this evening:
"Documents released by the Orlando Convention & Visitors Bureau indicate that Orlando is indeed bidding for Celebration V in 2010. The tentative dates, if the show comes to Orlando, would be Thursday, August 12th through Sunday August 15th, 2010. The anticipated attendance is 30,000 with approximately 15,000 rooms filled at peak. The Orange County Convention Center is currently holding 1 million square feet of space in the West Complex.
A presentation is being prepared for Lucasfilm and Reed Exhibitions next week and the group plans to narrow down the candidate cities to (2) by October 10th. From there, site visits will commence for the rest of the month with a tentative decision to be made by November 1st.
Perhaps just as interesting, is that a second bid is listed for an additional Celebration in August of 2014.
It's important to note that this information in no way, shape or form means Orlando will get Celebration V, but that the machine is very much in motion and that Orlando is ramping up and putting its best foot forward to acquire this huge piece of business."
An interesting note, the previously unnamed Reed Exhibitions is the same company that has organized New York Comic-Con for the last few years. Should be interesting to find out if this pans out. Thanks for the heads up, Campbell!
While this is very exciting to hear that an announcement may be close, we have still not received any official word from Lucasfilm Ltd. regarding a date or location for Celebration V. At this point, it's still any one's guess as to when or where it will be. It sure is fun to speculate though! As always, stay tuned right here for up to the minute information regarding this and all Star Wars news.
