Greetings from Walterville!
« on: June 05, 2023, 03:08:22 PM »
Hello everyone.   I've just moved to Oregon and am in the process of building a V1 Din Djarin kit and am also wanting to put together a classic TK stormtrooper.

I've a little experience costuming,  with post apocalyptic costuming and a little "The Expanse".

But I'm wanting to level up a bit and I really like the charitable aspect of the 501st.

I'm still in the process of relocating,  but look forward to meeting folks and being a handler while learning and building my kits.

Welcome to the forums, and to Oregon!

We have a few people in the Eugene area, and lots of others around Oregon/SW WA that are here to help!  Post up any questions you may have, we have many TKs and quite a few Dins.

Welcome! While you are building your costumes and waiting for approval, we often have events where non-costumes spotters are greatly appreciated to attend. Keep an eye on the forums for upcoming events in your area. I hope to get to troop with you soon!

Hello there! Once you get started on your costume, please feel free to ask any questions! A handful of local members, including myself, have Din costumes, and I can also provide comments and direction on the approval process as the membership liaison for that particular costume. Do you have a specific Din version in mind? Best of luck, and hope to meet you soon!

Thanks everyone.

I'm definitely planning on being a spotter as soon and as often as possible.   I figure it'll be a great education on what does and doesn't work.  My goal is to available for the Portland pride parade.

I'm working on a Chapter 1/2 Din Djarin.  Two right shoulders and two chest plates for either before or after meeting IG 11.

Though my move has put the hobbies on pause for minute.

So I'm working on small pieces and doing the administrative,  signing up, meeting folks part for now.

Welcome. Spotting is a great way to meet people, learn, and ask questions.

My first time spotting was last year at the Starlight Parade, and I didn't know anyone, and this year, I was able to participate as a TIE Pilot.

Every time I had questions, there was always someone to help.

A quick update.   I'm much further ahead with my TK than my mando.

And I finally bought a place.  I'll be moving again in a few weeks and then I'll be finishing my stormtrooper kit.

I went with Authentic Props commission build. It needs a few adjustments for everything to fit just right.

Here it right out of the box, first test fit.
