Title: First run-in with 501st persons... / new member.

I ran in to my first 501st member today (SithMan). He told me I should come here. I met this trooper at the starwars.com store in the mall.

For a while now I have wanted my own set of TK armor.. I have held it up as quite the project and no real area to start on it.
I am getting crafty with plastics and fiberglass, I know my way around the garage and ill give you a sample of a few projects I have been working on.
So here is hoping I dont have to drop a grand on my TK armor.. but we will see what comes up.
any help you guys could provide would be great!

This is near its finished stage, its made from Fiberglass, I started the project a while ago.

if you guys are interested ill start a new thread on these projects. I can basicly create anything out of fiberglass from a 3D Cad file.. so if you have any requests..

So here is to the 501st! and hopefully soon my own set of TK armor!

so.. TK armor.. is where I would like to start. I am trolling the forms.. ebay looks like a dicey market. I dont want to get my pants pulled down over the price of a standard kit.

I would like to create a kit out of fiberglass, the plastic seems a little.. fragile or am I totaly out of bounds here?

any ideas?

But here is my problem.

I'm 5'11'' 215. so no where near the 5'10'' 150 the original cast was. Also I wear a L to XL full face motorcycle helmet.

do any of you have an AP helm? I would hate to buy one then find out my head wont fit in the damn thing! haha.

I wear a TE set of armor and the plastic is not flimsey and no problems.. It depends on gauge you get.. I think every armor you get some problems and it depends on how you wear it and what you do. My FX kit is 3 years old and no cracks or problems. AP is a good set too.
