hello people;
i am wondering who would be going to this comic con. i was disappointed to hear that we are only invited to every second event (spring). and i was not going to attend, or get a table this one because of that, and i WAS really busy that weekend. however after talking to my guys, and rearranging some commitments, i am going to have a table there. mainly because i really need to unload my overstock at a loss to keep my shop alive (and keep my house).
but the real reason i am posting this, at Allan's urging, is to see who wants to "CRASH THE CON". if anyone wants to show up in costume we can start a roster. and then ill join in as "old ben" (hell i just might anyways).
and if you are not aware, tonys kingdom always offers %10-%20 off any member of DST/CCG/RL (i just love you (us) guys too much_) my merchandise..................old tony kenobi

I'm in. Do I have to do it in Star Wars only?

Me too?!
-
crashing the Con..LOL. As of right now , signs are good of us going to this. Karyn will go as Animated Leia. I will go as a Jedi or TK.
-
man i would love to join you guys but Jordan birthday is that day.You guys have fun and Tony i hope to visit your shop here soon!!!

I think that if you have a non-SW related costume you should wear it. One of the reasons we went last November was to just put more costumed people in there. Overall, it's a relatively small show, so anything that makes it more like those other high-profile conventions can only make the Portland shows better!
I'm definitely planning on going as an EVO Trooper this year.

I might be mistaken, but I thought I read somewhere that the Orycon had a rule against any and all masks and weapons. (buckets and blasters) Am I confusing this with a different event? I'd like to possibly attend and suit up as well, if this is not the case. Anybody know for sure? Jason

this is a differnt event, Jason Orycon is later on in nov!!

These are two seperate Events.
The portland comic book convention is a comic book flee market with some people, comic book artists/writers/editors (blah Blah) that are there to sign a few things. This really isn't a convention, but more of a gathering of comic book stores/collectables/and a few celebs to peddle things. There
are no panels and such.....

Orycon is Portlands own Sci-fi convention. It has costume contests (sometimes) a few panels, and of course dealers. I don't know alot about this one as I have never been, but their site is...

thank you cooter for your help!!
-
thanks for the clarification cooter. your exactly right, this is more of swap meet/flea market, i just thought "crash the con" had a cool ring to it 8). and thanks for bringing up the orycon, im gonna have to check that one out also.
as for costumes, i agree with kyle, wear whatever characters you wish. the more the better. i was lionitus from the 300 a couple years ago .....................old tony kenobi

Thanks guys for the clarification. I was mixing the two together.

i saw on the orycon site that CCG has a table there. anyone have info on this?.....old tony kenobi
ill be there at 7:00 to set up my table alan, call me when you arrive and well see if i found a change area :D

They went home and got a fan and came back. Even Daria had mentioned that they would remember to bring a fan, if they were to ever go to another event in costume again.
I've met Daria and Dallas a few times. I wouldn't say that I am friends with them, but we all know who each other are. I wouldn't mind going to see them again.
It all depends on my mood. Not sure if I will go down there, though.

I wish I could. I switched shifts from Saturday to Sunday with a co-worker for the picture shoot and appearance this Saturday. It sounds like it would be fun, but I'm working.
-
i plan to be there. I am very limited in my ability to pm or email. I can be reached by cell phone. Master cheif is due to show!
-
Very cool Martin.. It will be good to see you.
Peace, Allan
-
I'll be there!
-
I am going to be there at 9:30 in the parking lot next to the loading dock.
-
Spunds like a plan - you doing VAder or Chewie?
-
Wait - which parking lot? We should try and meet up if we want to go in together... I'd prefer to get dressed in the covered "Annex lot" which actually ends up being underneath the Blazers offices.

Just name the lot on Map and we will be there. We will arrive at 9:30 , so Rick Stay put in Parking lot . Which one Rick; Vader or Chewie? I am still thinking of bringing out my Prequel Jedi, and Karyn doing Animated Leia.
-
the annex lot, and I will be some type of wookie?

I planning on coming to this. Costumed or not. 8)
-
I'm still debating as to whether I want to or not.
On one hand it would be cool to see if any other OFF members show up, on the other hand Daria and Dallas will be there. Not to mention seeing Martin in that sweet new MC armor...
ahhh..... decisions, decisions!
- Bill
-
ALERT! ALERT! i just received an e-mail that parking fees will go up from $7 to $13 after 1:00 due to a trans siberian orchestra concert and a winterhawks game . on friday rick emerson will interview bill morrison (simpsons bongo comics), and daria will be talking about it on 105.1 friday........old tony kenobi

For those not costuming, or have soft costumes, I would seriously suggest just parking at Lloyd Center and riding the Max down to the Rose Quarter. It is all fareless square, and parking is free, too.
Just something to consider...
- Bill
-
I think I will armor up at Lloyd Center and ride the Max in armor to the Rose Quarter or wherever this is happening. I should look at the map.

Here is a Tri-Met map link:
http://ride.trimet.org/?tool=search&zoom=4&from=DOUBLETREE+-+LLOYD+CENTER&to=ROSE+GARDEN+ARENA&after=10:02%20am&on=11/07/08&min=T&walk=0.50&id=31743&lat=687240&lon=7649779.4&pLat=687240&pLon=7649779.4&pText=Doubletree+-+Lloyd+Center
It is roughly a 5-7 minute trip from the Lloyd Center to the Rose Quarter Commons.

Where you see the little bus icons in the lower left of this pic is Max stop you will want. From there you would walk Westbound to the Annex lot to meet up with everyone there. The Comic book show is actually held in the Memorial Coliseum. There is a way to get to the entrance without having to walk all the way around to the box office of the Memorial Coliseum, down the stairs (or elevator) to the actual convention area. From the Annex lot there is a an access way that leads right to some entry doors on that lower lever to get to where the show is.

Looking forward to this ...I am tired from Todays activities with photoshoot , and Wordstock. Rest ...Yes, I need rest. LOLOL See you tomorrow.

Pictures posted in Gallery Fun Troop. Fun just hanging out.

Wow. That was a very cool Comic Book Show. Saw lots of cool stuff. Great costumes.
Had several conversations with potential new members 501st/RL. Met 2 Mandolorian Mercs, very cool.
Bought several Star Wars Ewoks Comics, only need 2 more to complete my collection.
Spent several hours with good friends.
Priceless :D 8)

Seeing the Master Chief and Predator up close, and in person, was pretty sweet. This was a pretty cool event. For the first time I can see clearly all the things at the various tables.
We did get to see Daria and Dallas. Chatted with them for a few minutes. Shook hands with Dallas and Daria gave me a hug. We also chatted with quite a few other costuming folks. As Eric mentioned, a couple of custom mandos, a Jedi, a couple dressed in Battlestar Galactica fatigues.
I even picked up Labyrinth of Evil for $3! So, this was a pretty decent show for me.

Hi Tavrikgannon,
We talked for a few minutes this afternoon and we kind of talked about finding a way that I could make my first Imperial uniform. You suggested making an Imperial officer uniform and you were going to send me a couple links. Anyway thanks for the help. It was nice chatting for a few minutes. I'm sorry I had to run off so soon, but I had to go find my friends in that big place. Thanks.

I chatted with Clyde a little bit, in front of your booth there. I told him about OryCon. He said he might come crash it... or was that to pay me a visit?
