Got a 30 year old sewing machine from my wifes aunty. Spent roughly 4 hours threading it, not sewing, watching videos, re-threading it and again not sewing.

Taking a bit of a break before I attempt round 2.

it could be a matter of threading it the wrong direction, I used an older sewing machine a while ago and it had a right to left threading needle not a front to back, such a pain

My wife got it figured out (I think) and I had a semi-successful test.

Wish me luck, I'm goin' back in.

The Failing continues...

I refuse to admit defeat to a sewing machine!

Your Google Kung Fu is strong, but it is no match for my Google Crane Style!

Researching old systems used to be part of my job description actually. All I could come up with was reproductions of the manual for $5-17 dollars, nothing for free. But you might have better luck than me, it's a Brother Charger 1681.

The problem that I'm having seems to be with the bobbin. when the needle goes through the cloth, it hooks the bobbin thread for the first stitch, but then none of the others. Thats my best case so far, I've also had the thread from the needle get caught up in the bobbin a lot of times. I'm still figuring it out.
