Since I have no creative talent, and can't so anything for the life of me, I have to purchase my imperial officer uniform. I have found a site that actually sells a good majority of the costume, but I need to know if it is approved by the 501st Legion. Another site I found sells the boots and the gloves I need.
The Suit Site:

Hey Dalton,
While there are many different vendors that people use for their costumes, there are no '501st Approved' vendors. I do know lots of people use Imperial Boots for their costume.
I would recommend signing up to the Imperial Officers Forum: https://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/
They would be a great resource on where to buy parts.
We also have some Imperial Officers in CCG that will probably chime in to help.
-
I have signed up for the Imperial Officer Forums, but I am still waiting for a Confirmation Email. I send a Request for one nearly Every day now, but I still haven't gotten one.
It is a little frustrating, but I am still trying to be Patient.
Also, any idea when another Meet and Greet will happen? Had to work today so I couldn't make it.

You should only need to send one request, which will get approved by a volunteer when they do their approvals. Being the weekend, people are probably just busy with personal life.
Not sure about the next meet/greet date. We will post it on the forums when we have another one planned.
-
Understood.
But if I do not receive an email in about a Week, I'm going to send another request.

ImperialBoots.com is reputable - only issue is, they are based in China. So if something is wrong or off with the costume you ordered, it will take a long time for shipping to get it fixed. So if you order from there, triple check your measurements are good.
I did some research on ShadowDaleCreations on the Imperial Officer forums. Consensus is....steer clear.
If I can offer an alternative - a website many officer costumers have used is CosplaySky
https://cossky.com/products/star-wars-imperial-officer-uniform-costume-deluxe-version-new?_pos=4&_sid=fb226bf7e&_ss=r
Both my wife and I have Imperial officer uniforms from Cosplaysky - they required a little bit of tailoring but we are both very happy with them. It was the first 501st Legion costume I had and it's still holding up.
Additionally - CrowProps has done Imperial Officer boots in the past. If you need other accessories like belt, hat, rank bar, gloves, code cylinders - those can all be found on Etsy.
Final piece of advice - before you make any big ticket purchase and you want to be sure it's approvable, please contact a Garrison Membership Liaison (that would be me - I do the officer uniform approvals). I'd hate for you to drop big money on a part and it doesn't meet the 501st CRL standard.
Happy Hunting

I think that's a kit, so it'll end up needing some work to make sure all of the 3d printing lines are gone. If you're willing to put the time in, it appears to me to fit all the requirements. I think the scope you can actually get a real one for fairly cheap so that might save you some time too.
Depending on what they print it with, you may need to be careful about heat. Leaving a PLA printed blaster in a hot car means you're going to end up with a pretty melted looking blaster.
-
Trust me, I am Well aware.
Managed to find another Blaster candidate.

So my Officer belt arrived today and it looks Amazing, but there is one problem.
There are no Buckle Holes in the leather.
What is the best way to add some?
-
You can get a leather hole puncher tool at several stores in the area, or on Amazon.
-
Wow Im dumb. Why did I never Think of that...
-
I was thinking about buying the imperial officer uniform from Cossky in the Largest size available, and having it Readjusted as needed. Would this be acceptable?
I ask this due to the fact I do not see Anywhere I could input my own measurements into the Buying Process of the Website
-
Was cluttering up a Different forum, so I made this one instead!
All I need to finish it, is the Uniform itself!
-
Just placed my Order for the Cossky Imp Officer Uniform!
Included my Measurements and Everything. Hope they get it right
-
Nice! You'll be trooping in no time!
-
I sure hope so
-
There is Only 1 piece I need.
Black Garbadine Slack Pants.
I have torn the Internet Asunder, but I cant find Anything.
-
Would These have pants work for my ISS uniform???

So my new Chelsea Boots have just been delivered, and they are Perfect,
But,
They are a Little bit Tight around the feet. Luckily they are Leather, so they will stretch out in time, plus, I could Also just wear several pairs of socks
-
Sighs...
So, I am not really in the Best of Moods.
I have been posting Purchases and Progress reports, hoping to get Some Feedback, or some Affirmation that it is Acceptable to join the Legion.
Not a Peep.
I have Tried to get in Contact with Vaughn or CJ, but it is Almost as if they have Disappeared off the face of the planet. Not to mention the fact that I can't even send messages to Anyone to begin with, so, what the heck?
Now I Know that everyone is there own Person, and that they have their own live outside of the 501st, but this is a HUGE Deal for me, and I need to make sure that my uniform is Perfect...!
So yes, Very, VERY Frustrated...
-
Hi Dalton,
I understand that this could be really frustrating. Your enthusiasm to get this costume done is awesome, and I look forward to seeing it finished! As you said though, people have other commitments and not everyone from Star Wars Oregon is going to be familiar enough with your specific build to have the knowledge to give you the answers you need.
The best place to get specific and quick feedback on a costume is by making a build thread in the detachment forums: https://www.imperialofficer.com/ Please note that even then it can take time for people to respond.
For your trousers I’d suggest buying them from CosSky too so that they match the fabric of the rest of your uniform, otherwise even if you find something close it’ll never quite match. Also, if your boots are tight, try wearing them around the house wearing a thin slippery sock, or even nylons, inside of a thicker sock so you can stretch them without getting blisters!
Best of luck getting the rest of it together!
-
Hi Infern0,
Firstly I just want to say thank you very much for reaching out and contacting me. It has given me some hope back.
As for the uniform itself, I already have a whole Cossky imperial officer uniform ordered. I just can't seem to find good pants that would go with it. In case you aren't aware I need the straight uniform paint variant instead of the Jodphur riding breeches.
Do you have any suggestion of what I could order from the website? If you do I'll be most grateful
-
Not a Peep.
I have Tried to get in Contact with Vaughn or CJ, but it is Almost as if they have Disappeared off the face of the planet. Not to mention the fact that I can't even send messages to Anyone to begin with, so, what the heck?
Dalton, I have not received any messages from you and had no idea you were trying to contact me. Like Garrett said, please be patient with our replies. I have been out of state, now tending to a sick family member, and dealing with the stress of a promotion at work.
As for your questions above - the Amazon pleated pants will not be approvable. The CRL states:
*Fabric is a black medium weight suiting material.
*Pockets are acceptable, although not visible with the tunic on.
*Pants are neatly pressed or ironed, but with no creases.
*Version One pants are straight leg in style and rest on the top of the shoes without bunching or giving any sloppy appearance.
The Imperial Officer forum may lend more sources for the parts you are seeking. The CosSky costume parts have met approval in the past, as long as they fit correctly. The pants are approvable from them. If you can find a tailor and gabardine material, pants can also be made.
Im not sure what your timeline is for putting this costume together - sounds like you are in quite the rush?
-
I have been trying to find ways to contact you, but whenever I click on your profile, it says that I'm not allowed to.
I have already ordered a full uniform from Cossky, it's just taking a while.
Also I'm not in a rush, I'm just anxious to finally get my outfit done and join.
Another thing, I would like to apologize for coming off as impatient, rude, rushing, or invading of personal space.
Unfortunately I have Asperger syndrome, Meaning I am a little awkward around meeting new people and what not.
As for my outfit itself, if you are not in the loop, I'm currently trying to piece together an imperial security services officer, version two more specifically, with the straight pants, not the riding breeches
Ref:

The Pants are the Last Piece I need!
-
https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Temp-Imperial-Staff-Officer_(Non_Saga)#Version%20Two
Ok - now I understand. Thank you for explaining!
So, the bad news: the CRL states the pants must match the material of the jacket. Without the jacket in hand, you might be wasting money if you buy pants ahead of time that won’t work. In the meantime do continue to find your other accessories.
My advice - wait until you get your CosSky uniform, then go shopping at Ross, Goodwill, or TJ Maxx, Fred Meyer, etc… you might find the straight leg pants that match your jacket. However, the jodhpurs pants that come with your CosSky order are approvable for the version 1 costume as well.

Sorry that you’re frustrated.
I have no unanswered messages from you, so I’m unsure what contact you’re referring to.
We’ve communicated via pms already, so feel free to message me if you have any questions for me.
As far as your officer costume, i am not familiar with that costing at all, so I’ll leave those questions to others.

No worries! Contact CosSky via email and ask if they can either change your jodhpurs out for straight trousers, or make you a matching pair of straight trousers in addition to the jodhpurs if they have already finished the rest of your costume. Since they have your measurements anyway, I wouldn’t imagine that it would be an issue.
If you decide to go with any other option, your main concern would be matching the color and fabric look. Two gabardines or cavalry twills from different sources likely won’t look 100% identical even if they are both black.
That said, you mentioned Wampawear. They *are* one of the best makers for officer uniforms if you decide to upgrade at some point. They are more expensive, but definitely great quality, and good looking fabric. You could contact them too and see if they’ll do straight trousers for you.
The other stuff you listed seems good to me as far as I can tell. DarmansProps and PhiloProps on etsy always have good quality products. I can’t speak to the hat, boots or blaster though since I’m not familiar with those makers. Wampawear also makes excellent hats, although I don’t know how well the the fabric will match the rest of the uniform.
I hope this helps!
-
Infern0,
Thanks for the Feedback.
I have searched WampaWear, and they DO for a Fact sell Straight legged Trousers.
I will also be contacting Cossky and see if they make me some straight trousers so, Wish me luck.
I would also like a way for us to be in touch more easily. Any Ideas?

Big News
Big News
BIG KRIFFING NEWS!!!
I just received my Imperial Officer Uniform, and Guess what? It only needs MILD Alterations!!
I just need to Lengthen the Bottom of the Tunic, Lengthen the Sleeves, and Tailor the Pants a little Bit!
I also still need to Right type of Pants. Straight Legged.
Things are Really Looking up for this Hopefull!!
Now if I could Only figure out how to upload images...
-
I may have found Perfect Slacks, but, I need to Run it thru this system.
https://www.galls.com/lawpro-plus-mens-polyester-trousers?PMOPV1=BLK&PMOPV2=38&PMOPV3=34&PMSRCE=GAPLA&gclid=CjwKCAjw6fyXBhBgEiwAhhiZssQI-3w28C1exP6iXD_u7cRBXfJMM9kYCmkFcPc-wxDwETLFLxn1VhoCkCIQAvD_BwE
-
So the CRL states the pants have to be, ”A Fabric is a medium weight suiting material matching the tunic”
Now that you have your uniform and you didn’t get pants matching the tunic, you may need to just try different pairs of straight leg pants and see what matches. I can’t tell you if the pants will meet standard because I can’t see them next to your tunic.
-
Tags on the clothing says 100% Polyester. Ill head to a clothing store in a few days and see what I can dig up. In the Meantime, does anyone know:

B: How to upload Pics to the forums

I use IMGUR for adding pics to the forum posts. Upload your pics to the IMGUR site, then you can choose a size, copy/paste the pic link directly into your post.

So, Regarding my SE-14R.
I was thinking about spraying the Whole thing Black, to give it that Factory Fresh look.
Any Opinions? Feedback?
-
If it’s 3D printed, I’d suggest smoothing the print lines first. A filler primer can help remove print lines, however it’ll require sanding prior to painting. Then do your black layer.
-
I did sand it Vigorously prior to applying filler primer. Annoyingly however, some print lines have still slipped through the cracks. My mentor on the imperial officer Forums said that matte black will do a good job hiding most of the print lines that still remain
-
Then rock on! Sounds like you’ve got a plan
-
Damn straight
-
Something I’ve recently discovered when it comes to print lines: 50:50 mix of Bondo Glazing Putty and Acetone. You can brush it on, it’s just a little thicker than filler primer, and it works wonders! Plus if you need it thicker or thinner for a certain area just vary the ratio.
Definitely wear an organic vapor respirator when using it though!
-
That’s interesting, I’ll give that a try sometime.
I’ve played around with UV resin and print lines and that worked pretty well.
Again, wear your PPE!
-
Welp, my SE-14r is Complete. Feedback is Welcome

VERY Frustrating day today.

Very Frustrated, Very Demoralized...

Progress Report!
My Code Cylinders have arrived. I now have Access to All the Places and Things!
Only Gripe I have with them, is the bottom of one of them, being a little Mishapened.

It’s no problem - the bottoms aren’t even seen 8)
-
Im Almost Done!
All I need is:
My Hat
Straight Slacks
Belt Boxes
Tunic Alterations
And my Better Holster
-
Didn’t your CosSky costume come with jodhpurs?
-
Yes they did, But, I cant afford the riding boots right now
-
Will he be able to get away with rubber riding boots for basic approval?
Those are more affordable than the real deal.
-
Will he be able to get away with rubber riding boots for basic approval?

Funny, I was gonna ask the Same things
-
Lots of people use rubber boots for basic approval. Level 3 is when boots need to be leather (Non-PVC or Rubber). As we always say, shoot for the best but upgrade as you go along if need be.

So my pants got in today, but, Im not so sure if they will work. I need some more eyes to look over this
-
They are definitely different in color (at least by picture). Also, the pockets are showing, your tunic seems too short in the waist area. The CRL States:
Pockets are acceptable, although must not be visible with the tunic on.
-
Sigh... This is So Infuriating...!!! These pants are gonna be the Death of me...!
Welp, guess I better return them
-
Welp. Just sent the pants back.
I have put in a Messenger request for Cossky, as well as sent them about two more emails trying to get in contact with them.
Looking to either pick up some fabric to take to a tailor, or hoping to request a custom pair of pants from them to match the criteria. Everybody, please, wish me luck
-
So.
I just spoke with someone who works with Cossky, and I have some Bad news...
They will not commission me a pair of custom Straight pants, OR sell me fabric...
I am Officially stuck... Someone Help me???
-
Shoot, that really stinks! Is there any way the Jodhpur pants could be altered into normal straight pants? I'm not sure what the cuffs of Cossky's Jodphur pants look like.
-
Unless you are dead set on straight legs pants, I would purchase the rubber riding boots for the jodhpurs. Looks you can find them for under $100. What's your shoe size? We'll help find you a pair.
-
My shoe size is 12.5, calves are 17 inches
And I will post a Picture of the Jodphur Cuffs

Here are a few pics of the Bottom cuffs of the Jodphurs. Also, Ill need to wear a Belt for the pants as the Waist is a Tiny bit too big. I think Ill switch to Version 1 I suppose
-
Found something.
This style of boot is more common for woman and children. Most don't go above Men's size 12.
This place has a 12.5 I don't know if that boot is true to size or if the shop is legit.
***Warning***
That brand DUBLIN Website seems to suggest their products are for Women. On 3rd party stores they seem to be marked as unisex. A Woman's size 12.5 is going to be smaller than a Man's size.
Carefully review this store's rep and their return policy.

Ovation Derby/Cottage Riding boots are in Men's sizes, but I can only find them up to size 12.
I don't know if that brand is true to size or not.
On Etsy if you're willing to spend between $100 to $200 you can find Soviet leather riding boots and handmade leather boots from Pakistan.
-
:undecided: Decisions Decisions
Hmm. The Chelsea boots I bought, are size 12, They are a Little Snug, but they still fit
-
Ok so um, Dublin is NOT gonna work out, Cuz um, Verishop is a Scam.
And it is True, those boots are Only for Women and Children, No unisex, mean if I DO get a pair, I would need to get 14.5. We need to keep looking

The site isnt Lying right? It is 501st approved?
So no single item is 501st approved. The 501st approves you on your overall build. Having said that, many builds use those boots.... But I can't think of any officers that used them. The imperial officer should be well dressed, pressed, polished look. Those boots are used military boots and it is a gamble on that they are actually going to send you. I have seen guys get a set where nails are sticking out of the soles. I have also seen others get sets that are like new. Most of the build that utilize boots think this are hidden by other parts or should be beat up and well used looking.
So in short, I wouldn't buy a set of them for an imperial officers build.
-
The site isnt Lying right? It is 501st approved?
Sadly, the SovietBoots ones have buckles so they won't be approveable for officer uniforms. If you don't want to go the Hessen Antique route, I'd recommend checking the Imperial Officer Corps forums For Sale thread, and posting a WTB on there if there aren't any available right now.
Looking at the bottoms of the Jodphur pants, it definitely seems like going for version 1 is a better idea. Riding boots look good though!
-
The product I sent you would be a better and safer option to get you approved. These are MEN's boots, and come in a size 12 that you are seeking.

I think my Belt is Too low.
Also, if the Tunic is Still too short, then Im SOL, since the Seamtress said that it is Impossible to adjust it

I think my Belt is Too low.
Also, if the Tunic is Still too short, then Im SOL, since the Seamtress said that it is Impossible to adjust it
Some suggested improvements:
Have the uniform dry cleaned/pressed.
Yes, your belt is too low - bring it up and cover the seam line (it sits more at the belly button)
Add hat
Add boots
Also, your rank bar indicates a Naval Lieutenant. You said in the past you are going for an “Imperial Security Services Officer”. Do you have a Rogue One/Solo/Mandalorian screen reference that shows that rank for ISS? Here is the CRL for ISS Officer regarding rank bars:
Rank consists of colored plastic tiles mounted on a single or double metal or metal looking bar(s).
Worn on the left side of the tunic over the heart, aligned with the code cylinder pocket.
Each bar is approximately 1 inch (25.4 mm) to 1.25 inches (31.75 mm) in height.
Length is determined by chosen rank.
Rank tile dimensions and spacing are appropriate and proportional to the sizing of the bar to allow for even spacing from each other and the border of the bar:
Rogue One/Solo rank tile dimensions are approximately 15 mm wide, 21 mm tall and 3.2 mm deep.
Mandalorian rank tile dimensions are approximately ½ inch (12.7 mm) width x ¾ inch (19 mm) height x 1?8 inch (3.2 mm) deep.
Rank tile sizes must all be of one or the other — Not to be intermixed.
Please note that final dimensions of the bar may be proportional to the wearer.
Rank bar corners are a hard 90 degree angle, or slightly rounded.
Rank tiles are translucent, rectangular, positioned side by side in a vertical orientation, and evenly spaced.
Color, quantity, and combinations of the tiles/bars are determined by rank, and are appropriate to uniform type/color as supported by licensed reference.

I have 3 for Variety I'll break them out for you

Buy a handheld fabric steamer you can get them for $30 to $40. Works better than an iron IMO.

This is me personally speaking, I am not a GML and my opinion is just that, an opinion from a fellow officer builder. I do believer your tunic is going to come up a few inches short when all is said and done.
(https://i.ibb.co/r7TXWn2/fng1NdJ.jpg) (https://ibb.co/6nVqd60)
However, with that said, let's not get all sad faced yet! I actually think there is a bit of a silver lining here for your build! If we can get you that correct sized poncho, it will cover the tunic completely and in my opinion drastically improve your build IMHO. From my understanding, and Von can chime in here... your given the approval from what can be seen, not what's underneath. That poncho will cover these issues and looks a heck of a lot better, at least too me. Just some food for thought.

I would get my tunic tailored, but no seamstress I went to offered to do it, saying that it was impossible to do.
Second. i have NO IDEA what kind of Poncho to get.
If someone would just trade a LARGER tunic, this probably wouldnt be happening now

It is impossible to add more material. That's why it is so Important to get the measurements correct before ordering. Did you send them your measurements?

I did, but they Did Not follow thru with them

I think Nathan is right. Dimensions are off. The tunic should fit like a suit jacket. With the sleeves slightly shorter than the torso. Your tunic's length is more like a that of a shirt.
I had similar issue with these Chinese* sellers. Wanted to do some cosplay photography ordered a costume off eBay. It fit the model really good. Contacted the seller and asked if they can make another in the same size but a custom color. Quoted me reasonable price. It arrived in the customs color and same material. Invited the first model back and found another model with the same dress size. Dimensions of the custom job was all over the place. Quality control isn't something they are known for.
*It is my opinion that all these Chinese costume shops are working for the same company.
A custom sized tunic could be the correct or have new problem. This a risk you take with these discount costume makers. From what I've heard Wampa Wear does a good job. It will no doubt cost more but, how much will it cost to buy another uniform and have a tailor try to fix things? The money you might have to spend fixing it could be much higher than its actually worth.
-
Ugh. I have a Headache...
-
If I could just Find SOMEONE, to custom Make a custom tunic, things would be So much better. But dang it all to hell, no one is Interested, or Skilled enough to do it, and even if I do, The cost would Destroy my Bank Account!
Does anyone know Someone who could help? At all?
Cuz if Not, I am Officially Stuck.
-
Now Cossky is Refering to one of their Side Sites, Wanting me to buy a Whole new Uniform!!
https://www.skycostume.com/star-wars-imperial-officer-uniform-costume-deluxe-new-version-from-star-wars.html?___SID=U
God this is So Frustrating!!!
-
What is More infuriating, is that I am Thinking about Getting a XXXL, just so I can have a Larger Tunic to work Down on, but my Savings Account cant take it
-
Years back when some friends wanted a costume made from scratch. Said I would help ask around. I found people who doubted their skill to deliver and those who wanted to overcharge. I knew custom made is still going to cost more than off the rack but not that high.
I want you to pause for a minute. Before ordering anything else get some quotes on how much it will cost to resize an oversize tunic and how much it will cost them to sew the bottom of one tunic to another. Cause as I said in my last post - the money you spend trying to fix this could be way more than it is worth. A plastic fork costs less than a metal fork but it going to break quicker. You can super glue it back together dozens of times. All that money you spent on super glue doesn't make that plastic fork equal to the metal one. It is exciting to see an art project come together but it also okay to wait until your funds have increased.

I appreciate the Wisdom Fox. I guess I am just, A Little Impatient...
Oh, and some Bad news, Cossky just gave me another reply...

If the Uniform is Only in XXL, WHY DO THEY HAVE XXXL IN THERE SIZE CHART?!!
-
So I was exploring the internet for a Better Officer Uniform, and I discovered the shop Mazcave.
Their Uniforms look Amazing, but, I have No idea how much it costs, since he is on Hiatus
-
MazCave is what I have and they are about the 2nd most expensive officers uniform made right now. Here is the deal... even if you ordered a xxxl, you are going to be swimming in the dang thing. The size you have now is already big for you, its just short. I think the cheapest option for you right now would be to look at the poncho.
-
Where may I find one of these Ponchos Exactly?
-
Check with Von first and see if it's OK for this. I'm assuming it will be, but you will have to wear it all the time. Hop on the IOC, I have seen ya in there. Top right of the screen is the search option, just type in "poncho" there and start reading topics where people have them. That's your best way to source the different makes that offer them.
-
As you will be approved at the local level, your best bet is to get the majority of your information and suggestions in the detachment forums that specifically work on that gear.
-
Remind me, what is the IOC again?

Imperial Officer Corps Forum.

So, I'm pretty certain that I am on the verge of having a complete breakdown or anxiety attack.
The search for a willing Tailor to commission an imperial officer tunic, and not destroy my bank account in the process, is literally starting to make me physically sick.
And before you all start telling me to calm down, that's easy for you all to say, seeing as how you all have your uniforms already, and could probably afford 1000 more with your high paying jobs. I do not have that luxury, and more than likely never will.
I think it might be a good idea to put this to the side for now, as much as it pains me to say it.
-
I have decided.
I will be Saving up for a Wampa Wear Uniform.
Gonna buy a Triple XL tunic, and a Double XL Pair of Breeches!
Better to have things too big, than too small
-
Dalton - I admire your passion to get your costume put together; and assemble it quickly. In all honesty, it took me and many others months to get a full uniform put together. On top of altering a CosSky uniform, waiting for boots from China, leather belt and greeblies from the UK, and code cylinders from Italy. It took that long because I had to save…just like we all did. So insulting and assuming other members can buy what they want at will is a gross assumption. Many members work multiple jobs and long hours to afford things in our hobby. Many members research and build things themselves rather than relying on vendors. None of us are rich. What we are rich in, love for Star Wars and for costuming. Please consider your words more carefully before assuming things about our members. Believe me when I tell you that we want new members and genuinely want to see you succeed - don’t tarnish your reputation before even joining one of the Legions.
You’ve had numerous people offering advice here however you’ve moved so fast and purchased without waiting for us to give advice.
I am sorry your stress is manifesting physically. Take some time and revisit this project when you’re ready. If you can take any advice…. Just slow down. The 501st and Rebel Legions take pride in the high quality costumes we all make and wear - it’s what Lucasfilm and the fans expect. Take your time and do it right.

I owe everyone a Huge apology. Stress does tend to make me do Ridiculously Stupid things, and the fact that I have Asperger Syndrome Also doesn't help.
I will try harder to Not let my frustration manifest itself into something ugly like that again, and I promise to be a Better Friend and Prospect, I swear it.
----
Now, onto my new Plan.
I will be saving up my Cash to purchase a Uniform from Wampa Wear; XL Hat, XXXL Tunic, XXL Breeches AND Pants (For Variety)
I have spoken with some Friends of mine, and they have Actually Agreed to donate some Cash to me to Help me along; My friend John, will be pitching in $90 tonight, which I will use to secure a Hat!
In 2 weeks, he will make another donation of about $150, which I will use along with my Own Cash to secure the Tunic. Better it be Too Big, than Too Small again!
After that, I just need to Save to Acquire the Breeches.
Things are already looking Better!
-
You may have seen this thread but this IOC member did a phenomenal job. It’s the same uniform you’re making.
In the IOC Website Look for the topic: “ID-61490 [Cleared] Imperial Security Services Officer (Version 1) Executor 123.2”
-
Thanks for the Reference Von!
I am about to Purchase my Hat from Wampa Wear, XL since my head measures 24.5, anything I should Request? Like the hat disk NOT having that Notch in it??
The hats LARGE size is 24 to 24.41, while EXTRA-LARGE is from 25.61 to 26
-
Need a quick Yay or Nay here.
Id like to try to secure a Hat before they sell out!
-
Hat Ordered.
Source: Wampa Wear
Material: Cavalry Twill
Size : XL
Disc: Yes (No Notch Requested)
-
Looks like the Wampa Wear should do the trick.
Again…you keep asking for quick advice. Slow down… be patient, I know your money is valuable so let’s make sure you’re buying the right things.
We aren’t on the forums constantly. Many are working Rose City Comic Con this weekend. I’ll be away for a few weeks on vacation - take care.
-
Had a BLAST at Comic Con this year.
True, I didnt go as a Star Wars character (I was a Horror Character) but I really enjoyed meeting some Legionaries, like Missy and CJ.
Thank you both for the Encouragement, Wisdom and Guidance. Excited to make more Progress!

Welp, Cossky, has Officially, Lied straight to my Face...!!

I legit feel like, I have been Slapped in the Face.
Guess Wampa Wear is the Way to go.

Sorry to hear that you are still having more troubles. At this point, if it was me, I would clean the uniform and post it for sale on the officers forum and start over with a higher quality vender. Please do not buy anything in the future without a confirmed response from someone here or on the IOC. You want to get all parts of the uniform from the same vender so that the fabric and colors match.
-
Agreed.
I have made the decision to buy all my uniform parts from Wampa Wear
-
Agreed.
I have made the decision to buy all my uniform parts from Wampa Wear
That will be a far better option!
-
Already got the Hat ordered, no notch requested in the Disk
-
Got my Hat today. But Unfortunately, it has a Notch in the Disc, even tho I requested No notch.
Sighs. Its Never easy. Still happy with it tho. Still clears Base CRL Requirements.
-
Send them an e-mail.
-
I did one better. I left a Mostly Positive review
-
So you left a less then perfect review for a vender that you are going to be using to get the rest of your parts from without first trying to rectify the mix up? Jesus, I hope he sells you the rest of the stuff LOL.
-
So good news! He responded IMMEDIATELY, and is gonna be sending me a Notch Free disc for $12!
Score one for me
-
Replacement Disc has been secured
-
And to make this Sweeter, I think I also helped him improve his site a Little bit.
When ordering a Hat from Wampa Wear, there is now several Options to either Include or Not Include a Notch in the Disc
I get a Notch free Disk, and his site is now a Little better.
Win/Win

Also, Irritating update: My SE-14r scope Popped off and the Tip of said scope snapped off. Now I gotta glue it back, possibly screwing up the Paintjob in the Process!!!
-
Just seeing if there is a way to cut out a thin plastic to attach inside to help keep the shape.
-
Plastic, card stock paper or sheet of craft foam
Cut it roughly the same half-moon shape. Get some sticky back Velcro to keep it in place.
-
Yea. That could work.
Well aside from the Dent, how does it look?
-
Looks like it fits.
-
Excellent, so are there any recommendations on how I can possibly glue this stupid scope back together?

Should I use Gorilla glue, or a Different kind

Oh yeah, that’s an easy enough fix. Gorilla glue should work fine.
I’d recommend one of either Zap A Gap or Bob Smith Industries Insta-cure as good CA glues to have on hand in the future though.

Just casually browsing around here, and while I have no advice in terms of nitty gritty nuts and bolts of making this costume, I see your frustrations, and I just want to offer my encouragement toward patience in the process.
My own story goes (if you're so interested in hearing it and have the patience to read through all this), I originally got interested in joining in the RL in 2012. After a bit, I finally decided what costume I wanted to do: the Bespin Leia (now officially renamed Cloud City Leia). But go me, I went and picked one that was going to involve a ton of embroidery! And my sewing skills were suuuuuuuuper basic. Like, I can hand-sew a button on something, or sew ribbons on my pointe shoes, and that's about as skilled as I was. And my knowledge of fabric types, or what was needed/good for the costume was basically zilch. So I definitely needed a ton of help.
I saved up so I could buy materials and pay for some skilled help, and asked around and asked around, and finally found someone to help me. Unfortunately, she wasn't familiar with the requirements, and I didn't know enough of what I was doing, and we ended up making some fabric purchases that were just all wrong, and couldn't really be repurposed and made to look right. But before I realized they were wrong, the person I found to help me had to back out. Eventually, I found someone else to help, and we got it sewn up. Meanwhile, I had discovered the mom of a friend of mine owned an embroidery machine, who basically offered to let me use it, if I could learn how, and were willing to do the work. By this time, I'd worn the unembroidered version of the costume to Star Wars Celebration 2015, in Anaheim (met Carrie Fisher in it!), and it was about that same time that I was realizing how wrong my fabrics were - after it was all sewn of course (... Carrie might have remarked on hers looking a little different, too... aaahhhh).
If you've been noting my dates here, you'll see that three years had passed at that time. And it having taken me three years to reach that point, I was definitely not loving the idea of basically starting from scratch. But, finally, I bit the bullet and did so. Saved up some more, so that I could.
In 2017 (yup, two years later!) I was attending SWC in Orlando, and happened to encounter someone wearing a Cloud City Leia costume - where the pattern that I had thought I was going to have to embroider was instead printed on it! AND she was hopeful of becoming an approved member of RL with it! (I later confirmed that she was indeed approved.) This was a game-changer for me. She shared with me where she bought her fabrics, too. A huge help!
By this time, I'd finally learned, oh, I should be getting help from the forums. I ordered some samples of the fabric that I'd received advice for. I showed the samples in a thread on the RL forums, and they confirmed they thought it should work. So I ordered the fabric. It was not cheap, by any means. But I didn't want to repeat my mistakes of getting fabric that wasn't going to work, and if that meant it took me longer to save up so I could get the right stuff, and do it right, so be it.
Unfortunately, by the time it came time to sewing it (2018? 2019?), the person who had sewn up my last costume was no longer able to do so. But fortunately, someone I met while spotting at a RL/501st event, someone who is in the same general part of the state as me, was able to make a recommendation for a seamstress in a shop, who had helped with a Vader build. We really took our time with it (partly because I allowed her to prioritize other customers since I didn't have a hard deadline for an event I knew I wanted it for, and partly so we could take our time making sure we got all the details right, checking in on the forums along the way, and partly because oh hey, we're in the midst of a pandemic and things are weird, and the event I DID think I was going to want it for got pushed back two years). But eventually, it did get done. And I finally get the rest of the bits and pieces taken care of - the shoes and the hair (though I admit, I had a few qualms about whether or not they'd be approved).
And then, in May of this year - 2022 - yes, 10 years after I first decided I was interested - I was approved. Finally.
So my point is a couple of things.
One, the advice to take a little bit of extra time to make sure you're doing it right? So solid advice. Because I didn't, it took me longer. And I spent a pretty penny more than I originally had planned for. Doing it fast but wrong will cause more frustrations than taking an extra minute to do it right the first time. (It also took me longer because I didn't push as fast as I could have, but it still would have taken a while, and also, that's beside the point, because I can definitely see you don't have my same issue there!)
Two, the Legions aren't going to disappear. They'll still be here as soon as you're approved, no matter how long that might take. Ready to welcome you with your new costume. And you will be offered plenty of opportunities to troop. Before you know it, I'm willing to bet that these troubles will be so far in your rearview mirror, you'll hardly think of them as you do troop after troop. Or that if you do think of them, it can heighten your appreciation for the hard work it took you to get to where you are now, every time you put on your costume. Either way.
Finally: As you work toward your goal, one final thing:
May the Force Be With You!

Wow. Read thru the Whole thing, and I must say, The knowledge in this post is nice to have, and not to mention encouraging and invaluable.
It is true that I dont have good Patience, and my People Skills are also in question, due to my Aspergers, but that doesnt mean Ill ever stop trying to improve myself.
Regardless, all I really need now to finish my Uniform, are the Jodphurs, and the Tunic. Expensive, and Might be a Tad too big, but itll be worth it
Still, I appreciate you taking your time to type that all up.

I acknowledge it was long. Sometimes I don't know when to stop with explaining things, ha. Anyway, I'm glad you found it encouraging and all. That was my hope in typing it up. *tips cap* Carry on. :)

Great News! Another Massive Leap in progress has Just taken place!
Not only have I secured myself a set of 3XL Wampa Wear Black Jodphurs, But my German riding boots are now en route to my location!
All I need now to make my dream a total reality, is to just secure myself a 3XL Wompa Wear Black Imperial Tunic!
I am So Close, to achieving my dream, I can Almost taste it, and how sweet and fufilling it is!
-
So close now!! Blaster is looking good to me. You might want to give it a coat of spray paint to cover up the glue joins a bit, but I don’t know if this will effect your getting approved or not.

Ok, so my Flu has gotten a Little Better. The Only symptoms I have left is a stuffy runny nose, and most persistently, and Annoyingly, this stubborn sore throat.
On the bright side, I have another huge progress report.
If the pic is a Little too dark, I can retake it later.
(Brightened the pic a little bit)

And here I was thinking that my blaster problems were over. Once again, this scope rears its ugly head to cause me grief
Yes, it may be fixed, but the tip of the scope, Fused Crooked!
Any Ideas?

So after speaking with my Mentor from the Imp Officer Corp, he has convinced me to just, Leave it be.
As trying to repair it could end up damaging it.
-
So, Weird question. Are Suspenders allowed to be worn with the Jodphurs underneath the tunic? To keep them up in case they are a Little Loose

So, Weird question. Are Suspenders allowed to be worn with the Jodphurs underneath the tunic? To keep them up in case they are a Little Loose
As long as you can’t see them, I’m sure it would be fine. I think I’ve seen other officers wear suspenders under their tunics before.
-
I wear them, you're good.
-
Excellent. Also, small Sickness update, turns out, I didnt have the Flu, I had Covid!
-
Does anyone have any recommendations for a type of Suspenders that I should aquire? Keep in mind, I am a Tall Sonofagun, so I might need Big and Tall Suspenders
-
Drive to the mall and start trying some on. Most are adjustable.
-

In all honesty, you all have No Idea, how good this feels. Finally, after several YEARS in the works, my uniform is Finally Done!
Getting a little Teary Eyed here... :,)

I think you might be wearing that rank badge a bit low. Should be at the same level as the top of the code cylinders.
Other than that, you're looking good.
-
This looks really good. Well done!
