MISSION COMPLETE: 06.04.2011 Starlight Parade
« on: January 26, 2011, 05:19:50 PM »
THE STARLIGHT PARADE in downtown Portland is coming upon us again on Saturday - June 4th, 2011

This is open to ALL 501st Legion, and Rebel Legion members, and APPROVED GUEST of Legion members.

Im keeping the same rules as before. To keep everything up to par from the last few times.

Event requirements:

1.
Guests MUST BE APPROVED!!  "Johnny-come-walk-in's" that a 501st, RL or Mando Merc member does not know are NOT allowed... even for spotter duty.

2.
Costumes must be PARADE WORTHY, meaning it must be able to withstand a BRISK 2+mile walk and NOT FALL TO PIECES during the parade!!

3.
Costumes should be high quality, like you walked off the movie set... "halloween grade/off the shelf" costumes are NOT PERMITTED.

4.
Costumes should/need to be kept to READILY RECOGNIZABLE Star Wars character types, including Expanded Universe and Canon characters.   Mando Merc's, misc. Jedi, and Star Wars aliens/denizens are TOTALLY cool.

5.
"Face Characters" i.e. Vader (whatever version), Leia (whatever version), etc. need to be approved by CCG command staff PRIOR to payment of the entry fee. (PM the CCG CO, Allan Quick for approval)

6.
As per Starlight Parade Committee rules: NO PERSON UNDER 10 YEARS OF AGE IS PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE (lowered from 12 years in previous years!)

7.
ALL costumes MUST have some form of lighting on them, EL wire works the best, strobes have been used, and chem-lights have been used with varying degrees of success.  EL wire kits are preferred, they're not expensive, and you get the best effects for your money!

The entry fee is $250 for the group, and the registration fee has been $10 per COSTUMED person in the past.  All those who want to be in the parade wearing a STAR WARS costume MUST pay the individual registration fee, those who perform spotter duties need not pay the registration fee. Times are tough I know. So please help with the fee! :)

Payment instructions:

Payments are due on the night of Starlight, Cash is fine. BUT PLEASE PLEASE have it in by March 1st! I am open to alternate ways of payment for those who are not on paypal.

You can send $10 to my PayPal account: Zolotkey@comcast.net

Can you define a "Brisk" walk?

I screwed up both of my knees while I was in the army, and (assuming I have a costume to wear) a trooper marching with a pronounced limp might look pretty bad.

Brisk walk depends on how fast the Rose Festival wants us to catch up with those in front of us. Its not like a walking jog or a power walk. I will say that it is not a walk leisurely around without a purpose.
