Hey all! Been awhile and now that Mac's armor is (nearly) done and the Magic Wheelchair is done, it's time for me to start building something else for myself. Missy and I have decided that we want to harass patrons at Rose City as twin Gammos! So, let the fun begin!
First step of any great build is the planning stage. Started drawing out what I wanted to do for the undersuit and then building the parts out of small foam to see if it was even feasible. I've reached out to the most amazing Gammo on the web and been getting a lot of help.

So, I ran to Joann and bought some of the fabrics and foam that I will need to use:

First thing that I wanted to tackle was the torso for the undersuit. It's kind of like a tactical vest, so I placed down a tank top that fits and then started cutting away:

At this point, I was thinking about Velcro to secure it shut. So, I added on the Velcro strips and sewed strapping. I'll revisit this later as it gets tossed out the window... Learning as I go...

I even built a mannequin since I didn't have one...

Then, I built the back hump:

Now, I started thinking lower torso/diaper area. This is where the craft foam and a small doll come into play.

Nah, pass.

Too funny looking...

Can't even explain what went wrong on this one...
Attempt 4:

SUCCESS! Rounded hips, rounding into the belly area. I like it. Now, I have a pattern to use.

The secret is to take the notches out of the top front, back, and sides. This helps to round the foam and keeps it from having abrupt edges.

Oh, and I added the cod padding. Not sure if that's necessary but all the other Gammos do it and I don't want them making fun of me...
The next layer in the lower torso is the nappy/diaper. After a small build party this weekend, I hammered out some enormous shorts!

Then, I cut them to fit a little better:

Now, the fur skirt. I made it long for now as most Gammos have the nappy showing at the bottom but I can always take away fur and I can't really add it. I may also swap the fur out for a longer fur length at some point in the future but am not sure if it's really needed. Maybe something from the goat family...

I then added four straps that are sewn into the fur and then they pass through slits in the nappy and the foam so that they will hold everything up. Two in the front and two in the back. These will eventually be attached to my harness system, which I have partially built but am waiting on a heavy duty set of suspenders.

So, here's where I stood Saturday night:

I decided that I wanted something to cover the foam on the chest piece. One, to help it stay together. Two, to help it last longer, and three, if it's inside something, I can take it out and swap it should it get funky, which I'm sure will happen. So, I spent Sunday sewing an outside layer for the vest. The foam slides in the bottom and I'll have velcro enclosures to keep it in.

I think I have the Gamorrean posture down!
Today, I took everything apart and sewed elastic into the legs of the nappy to make it an actual nappy. I also cut away several inches of fur at the bottom, but may take more off later.

So, anyway, lots and lots to do still but what a fun build so far! And, I'm going to have a partner in crime so it's great that I've gotten this far and learned from lots of mistakes and things that just won't work. I also am very blessed to have the best Gamorrean in the legion helping me out. Troopers helping troopers!
I have the mask on order from Chris Stephens Creations and the arms, legs, hands, and feet on order from Skywalkers. Hoping those parts aren't the 3-7 months waits I was quoted...
Next up will be undershirt sleeves! Exciting!
