Title: The wonders of the local Wookiee never cease....
Post by: tavrikgannon on March 21, 2009, 10:52:39 PM
The local Wookiee, aka Rick, has surpassed my expectations, yet again. Not only has he been very helpful n getting my Mando done, but he painted my helmet and made it look really good. The results had way exceeded my expectations! I mean, I knew it was going to be good. But what I got was something truly GREAT! I am in awe of just how awesome this thing turned out....

I give you these:

As I said.... the local Wookiee has outdone himself with this paint job! What else can I say? Rick is the man (err, Wookiee)!!!

Not just any bounty hunter, but a Mandalorian Warrior!!!

See, I knew there was a bit of Merc in you.... no wonder you knew what I was saying in that thread on the KB section of the Rebel Legion forum.

i might need to start saving up... :D

With everything that I wanted to put into it..... I think the overall cost will be close to $700 - $800. I'd actually have to itemize it out right now, and my brain just isn't working right now. Sleepiness is setting in!

The armor was $120 (Jango Fett style)
The helmet was $150 (Sgt Fang)

Everything else is the miscellaneous stuff that is subject to each individual preference. Just know that this is a custom Mando costume, which holds no place in the 501st or Rebel Legion. In other words, it is not an approvable costume within these groups. I did this costume because I have always wanted to do a custom Mando costume... that and I am joining the Mando Mercs club, too.

The Mando Mercs are the only club that does custom Mando costumes.

Ya know, Jedi are the sworn enemies of the Mandalorian Warriors. I'll be more than happy to execute order 66 for free!  :P

Wolverine..... nah. It was very large kitty kat!  Apparently, it's owner didn't observe the local leash laws. Now I have a prize pelt!

Well, you know me, I am all about giving the credit where it belongs. If someone comes up to me and says that is really awesome armor/helmet, I love the paint job, I'm going to tell them that it was all you, my friend!

Like I said, I knew that it would be a top notch paint job, but when you showed me the blaster rifle, I was really impressed. I knew that if the rifle was that good, the helmet had to be better. When you unveiled the helmet, my mouth completely dropped in awe! What you did was above and beyond any of my expectations. To say that I was impressed is a severe understatement!

Now I have the task of matching my armor to the helmet..... wish me luck!

Uhh, simply called: the vest!

I am ready to mount the armor. I am just needing the vest so that I can line up the back and torso pieces. Let me know when you get it done and I will come down there and pick it up.

Are you feeling any better?

But, uh, where exactly is the Stargate located?  That's the scary part.

It's looking great Bill. The wookie does great work. I may have to work with him on my second version. As the local Merc rep, it will be great having you in our ranks.

Thanks, buddy.... I am getting there. Here are some more pics taken with my cellphone. Kindly ignore the mess on my work table.

I still need to do some more weathering and other light detail work to these.

These are just primed. I'm still needing to paint them. I will here over the course of the weekend, I think. It occurred to me that I should really apply some bondo to hide those seam lines... You may be wondering what that windowed box is on the left gaunt (right side of the pic). That would be where I will having my cell phone strategically placed. Hey, even a Mando had to take a comm call, from time to time!

The rifle was painted by Rick. It got a little scuffed up on the way home, so I had to add a little more weathering to the barrel.

Sweet gaunts. I will have to work with the Wookie now. I'll be needing a new set of gaunts.

Thanks, Darrin.

I ran into a bit of a snag, last night. With the help of my roommate, I was getting all of the lower leg armor situated, when it turned out I was a half yard short on the elastic needed for mounting the armor pieces! [face_angry]

So, I will have to go over to Joann's again and get more elastic. The kicker of it is, I was short on elastic for the blasted knee parts!

In other news, I did add some bondo to hide the seam lines on the left gauntlet.

More to come soon....
