Well, I said I would take some time off and come back after the summer... I never specified which summer. Well, after finishing the Wampa, Gamorrean Guard, Zuckuss and an X-wing pilot, I dragged the legs on this out of storage and decided to get back to plugging away and see where it could go. It's nice that it's just a fun project, so there really isn't a time line for completion. So, when I left off, I had a pretty good amount of the legs done but they are still in need of some finishing details. I had gotten tripped up on how to do the hips, but I think I've powered through and am making progress again. So, I dug the build threads out of the bottom of the pile and started looking at them again:

I built a general frame for what the remainder of the body will look like:

Then, added the head for motivation:

Wait, no, that's not right... Here we go:

Added some fake arms for now and then started working on the hips after I found some rounded wood that I could use:

And then I built a rough draft of the side skirts:

Those will be refined later. Then, I started building a rough draft of the three upper body segments:

Starting on the bottom segment, I started adding all the details. Now, from here on, I'm generally using the Sideshow toy since I have one on hand and it's easily accessible. You build yours however you want.

And here's the general idea of what I'm going for:

Added a few more small details and am now here:

Starting on the next segment, which is a bunch of tubes with pipes between them, which can be seen in these two pictures:

Have a pretty good start on those:

And then the chest spike. Thanks to D'Angelo for the idea here:

And, lastly for now, I have glue on the tabs on the side skirts drying so that they can be mounted tomorrow:

So, for now, here's about where I stand:

Tons to do but I've found new interest in the project, so I'm hoping I can keep plugging away and see where it takes me. Special thanks as well to Mike Kraemer for welding me a base with posts in it that run up his legs to add stability and keep him from tipping over on me.
