$4.05 BILLION! I am happy to see the franchise continue. I guess this means I'll be waiting all night in line again in 2015 and every other year after that. And that's just for Star Wars.

I am excited, but I hope that since it's Disney it won't be too cheesy.  I hope they do 7,8 & 9 with the Legacy characters...but I know he already has a plan for them.  Can't wait either way!

I can't really see this as a bad thing. At least Disney will continue the franchise... Lucas, on the other hand, didn't seem to have too many ideas of what to do with the franchise after Clone Wars finishes (which probably will be soon enough). Disney has done an excellent job with their Star Wars things in the past, and I can't see them doing any less with it now.

I am kind of curious where this puts the "live action series" that has been floating around in limbo for ages. The status of the series seemed to constantly change-- first it was going to happen, then it wasn't, then it was again, then it wasn't again, and last I saw it was back in the going-to-happen state. With Disney I wonder where it stands now?

But someone on the RL forum did bring up a good question... Does this make Princess Leia a "Disney Princess"?

...And will my dreams of a Star Wars Land being added to Disney World/Land finally come true? If so, will they rent me an apartment in that land?

I'm just giving you a hard time.  I understand, that "Indiana Jones" made me mad too.  Lol

@Blue Leader: I can't wait to see if they make their own Star Wars Land in one of their theme parks. They better make Mos Eisley Cantina!

Leia totally would be a Disney princess, but she is a lot more of a stronger female character then the rest of them, she'd be their leader.

I think Disney will do an awesome job with they movies. They own Marvel and those movies have been awesome. Hey maybe they can get Johnny Depp to play Han Solo since he plays a pirate already. Jk about the last part. Please don't blast me on here.

The more I think about it the more I hope they do not use Luke, Leia, and Han for the next movies.  Have you seen how different they look now a days.  I don't think I can really see Mark Hamill using the force in a new movie now a days.  Nothing against them, they just don't look the part to me any more.  I hope they continue the story in a new direction, maybe their kids or some descendents down the road from them.  Something along those lines.  Obviously you can have Chewbacca because they live to be old old old :-)  I really think Disney will do the movies some justice better than what George could have done.  He seemed to be more about the special effects and making everything look good on a computer screen in 1,2,3 but in my mind 4,5,6 look far far far superior in effects quality as they are really actual PROPS and COSTUMES instead of people around them all looking at something that isn't there and not really looking in the same place.  I think with the team of writers that Disney can pull together on something like this can take the ideas the GL had for 7,8,9 and make it something EPIC!  I am counting down the days already for when this will be a reality!

During the interview with GL, it was a tad disappointing when they said they are looking for writers. Uhhhh... .HELLO! Just use the Thrawn Trilogy! DONE!

I agree, Thrawn trilogy or fate of the Jedi (but that's a longer series).  As far as using the same actors,  yeah they are way too old now but remember in the new tron they CGed the young characters and it didn't look too bad.  Like they made Jeff Bridges young again for some scenes.

Just donned the TK for our company Halloween party. Wow, my first time as a Disney character! I guess Phil has us all beat on the experience scale now  :D

I for one am excited to see what they come up with for the movie. We've seen some really good example of what fresh minds can do with Star Trek and Batman.

So let the speculation begin!

Also Joe Johnston reported interest in doing a "stand alone" Boba Fett movie.

As for the OT actors, I think Hamil would be interested in doing something, but not Ford.

I'm very happy for the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney. They have everything to make the movies, live action TV series (which they already have scripts for), and have been partners for years so it made really good sense to get together. Passing on the baton.

Am I the only one who actually wouldn't mind seeing Johnny Depp in a Star Wars movie, as long as he wasn't the main character? It could be kind of amusing.

As for the coming movies, I'm wondering if they'll even have Luke, Han and the others in it at all, or if they'll skip over it for Jason and Jaina, or just create new characters entirely. As much as I would love to see the the Thrawn trilogy be made into a series of movies it seems fairly unlikely, considering that Hamill, Ford and pretty much everyone else would be too old to play the parts. They could have new actors/actresses playing the characters but I don't think that would sit well with the fans (maybe it's just me but Han Solo isn't Han Solo unless he's being played by Harrison Ford :P). The only way I could see a Thrawn series happening is through CGI.
The most logical thing seems to either be create new characters entirely in a story that doesn't involve the Trilogy characters (except maybe through hologram or something where the characters could be CG), use an existing story or a new story and characters that takes place long after Episode VI, or do a series of "Jedi academy" movies where the main characters aren't Luke, Han and so on, but they could make appearances as they would be older, anyway.
Actually, the latter could be kind of neat, seeing an older Luke as an instructor at his Jedi academy.

But I'm still hoping for a movie staring Dash Rendar. A guy can dream.

that would be a HUGE retcon, and not that it hasn't happened previously, however GL has stated that the deaths of main characters stand

I didn't mean as Han. I meant as a completely different, non-main character (supporting character or something).
But that's for a different discussion. I don't mean to steer this one off-topic.

Leo DiCaprio as Luke
Johnny Depp As Han
Ben Afflack as Chewie
Kristin "I've only got one look" Stewart as Leia
Nicholas Cage as C3P0
Will Smith as Lando

Please let there be no recasting going on.  I've been thinking about who I would want to see in a Star Wars movie though as who knows what kind of character but I would like to see Keifer Sutherland somehow.  He's got the voice that would be great for a mentor type jedi master.  Put John Malkovich (sp?) as a bad guy somewhere.  I might even go so far as to see Chris Pine in there with maybe even Mila Kunis thrown in for good measure.  Just ramblings mainly.  Of course to stay true to the Star Wars of old .. have almost complete no ones play the main roles and let this be a spring board to an acting career for them.

Kristen Stewart destroys ANYTHING she touches... I wouldn't even joke about her being anywhere near Star Wars for fear of her terribleness reaching out and corrupting it it across the gap between imagination and reality :P

That said, the thought of Nicholas Cage as C3PO cracks me up a little! Sort of reminds me of when Simon Pegg and Nick Frost did their R2D2/C3PO parody.

Yea even as a joke Kristen Stewart was overboard. I apologize to everyone. How she ever got an acting job is beyond me. I've seen better acting in soap operas.

That's just too funny, I think you get more emotion from a potato then Kristen Stewart.  I agree to all of the above.  But ifWill Smith plays Lando, will he make a rap song about Star Wars? Lol.

Having no ones or not too huge actors like they did in Star Trek worked out great.  The only thing that helped is that it was a prequel.

I saw another article that said he was open to it with one condition, Han gets a  death scene. Remember he thought Han should have died in the original trilogy. I lost the link though. Sorry. I guess we well just have to wait a while longer to find out fore sure.
