Hey Troopers, It's been some time since I've been on the boards here. I've got to see a few of you here and there over some past events, and I'm so pleased to see how far CCG has come along since it's CCS days. After some personal trials and tribulations after my time with CCS/CCG, I figure its time that I get back into the swing of things. I still have some Biker Scout armor and some Imperial Gunner gear, but both are in need of an update, as both aren't really of durable troopable quality anymore. My last time in armor is at CIV. My oldest boy Ian (who is 11 now, going on 12, and is now a little Emo boy with no interest in trooping until he is tall enough to wear TK armor!), for those of you who remember him as a Jawa and Ewok. I now have a 6 year old boy who is DYING to troop with me, based on the old pics he sees his older brother in. His name is Adrian. He's done some professional commercial screen work for Chrysler/Dodge (while they're still afloat) as well as some local print ads, but none of it compares to the charity work that Ian and I did for Doernbecher's and such in our years past so it seems in HIS eyes. I can't wait to get him into the game:) (Man he idolizes Ian).
I'm so happy to see how the Imperial Gunnery Corps has taken on a life of it's own since founding it and being it's first CO. I'm also so proud of the clout and accomplishments that CCG and the 501st as a whole has been able to obtain in such a relatively short amount of time. I miss my old Garrison mates and would love to meet new ones. It's become such a large family. You all have done so much for Doernbechers and others in the past couple years. Kara and I went to go see Empire over at the Baghdad the other day (complete in our black CCG t-shirts), not knowing it was a 501st/CCG event. We came too late and it was (standing room only and were turning people away by the time we got there). We spent the evening at Groung Kontrol instead. If I had actually spent some time on these forums, I would have seen that it was a CCG event, and I would have at the very least gotten on the boards here and signed us up as volunteers. I'm glad you guys were able to swing that with KUFO. What an opportunity!
One thing I've noticed that has bothered me, is that there is a Star Wars store opening up in the Clackamas Town Center. It's the same cats that run the current one in Downtown Milwaukie. I know it's not my place since I haven't been on board (or on the boards for that matter), but I was troubled to see a local biz possibly profiting on 501st's appearance. Is this totally cool now? I guess since the 501st name is attached to it it's all kosher (yes I saw the thread as well as the sign of sheet, so yes, I realize I have no place really bitching about it) Of course, if it's for charity, that's rad. I guess I'm in the NEWB category again since being away for so long, and honestly, if it helps keep the Star Wars name alive, then more power to it:) Sorry to be a didactic prick, and again, sorry for being out of the loop and missing any posts about it.
Anyhoo, I miss the old CCS/CCG crew, and it would be rad to meet the new ones since my abscense. It was great to run into Martin recently in his Halo gear for Free Comic Book Day, and into Kyle over at Fred Meyer during the ice storms, but I feel it's time that I get back into the swing of things and get some updated gear and troop again.
Hey, we once all met up at Willamette Park just off of Macadam/Hwy 43 here in Portland for a picnic. Are we game for that once again? Hell, it's just down the street (somewhat) from where I live now with my fam.
Feel free to PM me or call me directly. I should be on the list.
Cheers all, and great work. I'm glad to have been a part of such a great group of people.
