Hello from Eugene! Local Jedi Looking to Begin!
« on: February 02, 2018, 08:07:48 PM »
Hello all!
I'm a student at LCC trying to begin my costume and join the Rebel Legion officially. After much thought, I've decided to create a Generic Jedi / Generic "Master" Jedi costume. I just purchased a lightsaber- (see here: https://www.ultrasabers.com/product-p/l-soundinitiatelev4.htm )
In Guardian Blue. Can't wait for it to get here!
Anyway, now I'm on to the most important part of the costume, the robes.
I've been looking at 3 options and would appreciate any advice from costume judges or people who have been approved for this costume in the past. If either apply to you please offer up any advice as it's more than welcome!

Option 1: Click these 3 links: http://amzn.to/2s2Ix1d  --  http://amzn.to/2BR43pc  --  http://amzn.to/2BR0Vd1
So I'm thinking if all these would be approved WITHOUT EDITING (or minor editing), to just buy them as it would complete my costume.

Option 2: http://etsy.me/2FCCJNV -- My Fiance is an AMAZING seamstress and could find a pattern like this one for Jedi robes but make them earth tones to be approved as generic.

Option 3: If anyone has a pattern for generic jedi robes that has been approved then please PLEASE PM me so we can swap Facebook/Emails and share patterns/ideas- again that my Fiance could build.

Please post what you guys and gals are thinking I'd appreciate any and all advice. Just looking for a good and relatively inexpensive set of robes!

Thanks
- Captain Ray (Jonathan)

Welcome, Jonathan!

I have an approved Master Jedi and I can let you know what I think, but you should know that I am not a Legion Costume Judge.

I think that the boots look fine and should be approvable, but the Jedi costume and the belt from Amazon likely would not do the trick.  If your fiance is able to sew your costume I would recommend that.  As far as the Etsy costume goes the tabards are a little wide...they should only extend to about our shoulder (this one goes past it).  Benefits of sewing your own is the freedom to choose your own fabrics and colors, etc.  The belt that you linked from Amazon is a little too narrow, I think.  Also, keep in mind that the boots and the belt should be about the same color (both brown, both black, etc.).

Here are some links that you may find helpful as you put your Jedi together.

Good luck with your Jedi!

Welcome to the boards! Make your own tabards, one of the easier things to make on a Jedi and highly customizable. I will be having armor parties again soon. My wife has an approved Jedi and I’m finishing mine up.

Hi! I've been on the forms for.... A year? Anyway I don't have a costume either. But I'm thinking of doing a generic Jedi as well. If only because Kushibans aren't cannon  Which is a shame.

From one Jedi to another welcome. If you go the cosplaysky route I will you know the robe isn’t approval. I found that out the hard way.

Welcome from Eugene, but you should really consider the Dark Side©®  cause we have cooler costumes.
